Villa Chandra is our third villa at the Surya Kembar site. "Chandra," or moon, as we have called this villa reflects the cool, relaxed atmosphere and location of this luxurious 3-bedroom villa. Perhaps one of the most stunning features of the villa is the private, 12 meter, natural stone infinity pool overlooking a beautiful valley of rice fields. Similar to the other villas I have built, villa Chandra is made from recycled hard wood materials, including old ships and boats that I found in Java.
The villa offers 3 bedrooms, two of which are master bedrooms with a king size bed. The other bedroom offers two twin beds (or can also be made into a kingsize bedroom). All bedrooms have their own private bathroom, sofa, large wardrobe, air conditioner, fan, satellite TV, Bose ipod dock, and WIFI access (one room offers a safety deposit box).
Our full equipped kitchen includes all appliances (oven, stove, toaster oven, juicer, blender, utensils, cutlery, glassware, plates, refrigerator, -- no microwave). We also provide free mineral water.
The living room is in an open air setting, and offers handcrafted tables, furniture, and very large and comfortable L-sofa.
The villa is located amongst rice paddies on a village road in a quiet setting, yet is only a few minutes drive from the cultural center of Ubud. You can also take your time and walk into town to really get a sense of the area and the daily life of the Balinese. The villa's position to the south of Ubud makes it easy to take day trips to the beaches in Sanur, Seminyak, or Kuta without any of the traffic of town. Each day the local priest’s wife places offerings in and around the property to bring a good spirit and great smells to the area. The local banjar (community meeting place) is just a short walk down the road, and one can sometimes hear the faint sounds of the village gamelan practicing as the sun sets. It is magical! Many of my family and friends are mask-makers, wood carvers, musicians and dancers, and I am happy to introduce those wishing to learn some of the Balinese arts.
The property shares a parking area and fully trained team staff with three other villas on site. The price includes daily maid service, linens and towels, wireless internet, cable television, and daily breakfast.
Airport transfer, driver to other attractions, massage, private yoga classes, traditional Balinese meals (made by the most renowned cook in the village, my mom!), laundry, rental cellphone, rental motorbike, and babysitting can be arranged for an additional fee.
Babycots/cribs and car seats also available for no charge.
Being Balinese myself, I am always open to speak with guests about Bali's rich culture and religion, and can offer tips about unique things to see and do. The Ubud area offers a number of great performances, the monkey forest, and exquisite temples, and I am happy to inform guests of authentic ceremonies and celebrations happening during their stay.
Please send us any inquiries you may have. We are happy to cater to all guests' needs in order to make your stay in Bali truly remarkable.
Low season price is $300 per night with a minumum stay of 2 nights.
High Season (December 1-January 15; July 1 and August 31) is $350 per night with a minimum stay of 3 nights.
If you know you will stay for a week or more, I am open to negotiating the price :)
Thanks, Matur Suksama -Oka
Villa and on site facilities.
Interaction with guests
As much or as little as guests wish.
Other things to note
Airport transfers are available for an additional fee.
Guests staying in the villa are expected to treat the villa as if it were their own. Guests under the age of 18 must be accompanied by adults. Smoking is allowed, but only outside, and it is expected that cigarette butts will be disposed of properly. Since the villa is located in a small, quiet village, it is expected that guests will be respectful of their Balinese neighbors who have small children. Loud parties and excessive drinking are not advised (go into town to one of the many great bars! We can arrange for you to be picked up or dropped off). If a guest is being too loud, on-site security will politely ask that you quiet down and remind you of the promise made to be respectful when renting the villa. Any damage will be assessed and may potentially lead to a guest losing part or all of their security deposit. Upon check-in be prepared to show your passport so that we may register you as a guest. Cheers!

Hi! My name is Oka and I am a villa designer and artist from Bali, Indonesia. For many years I travelled around America and the Carribean working on cruise ships, but now I have settled back home in Bali with my wife Dayu and my son Gustu. As a young boy I was a woodcarver and pottery designer and have since combined my interests in art and hospitality to design unique villas around Bali. My family is also of the Brahman, priestly caste in Bali, and I grew up learning about all of the unique and intricate aspects of Balinese culture, religion, and art from my father. In addition to being passionate about creating unique villas and art, I am also passionate about sharing information about my home-- the island of the gods-- Bali. I was once hired to do a Canadian National Geographic-like program called Departure indonesia season 3- Ring of fire and Departure indonesia season 3- A home away. You can look me up in these films!
I can't wait to share with you! -Oka
