Villa Chandra is our third villa at the Surya Kembar site. "Chandra," or moon, as we have called this villa reflects the cool, relaxed atmosphere and location of this luxurious 3-bedroom villa. Perhaps one of the most stunning features of the villa is the private, 12 meter, natural stone infinity pool overlooking a beautiful valley of rice fields. Similar to the other villas I have built, villa Chandra is made from recycled hard wood materials, including old ships and boats that I found in Java.

The villa offers 3 bedrooms, two of which are master bedrooms with a king size bed. The other bedroom offers two twin beds (or can also be made into a kingsize bedroom). All bedrooms have their own private bathroom, sofa, large wardrobe, air conditioner, fan, satellite TV, Bose ipod dock, and WIFI access (one room offers a safety deposit box).

Our full equipped kitchen includes all appliances (oven, stove, toaster oven, juicer, blender, utensils, cutlery, glassware, plates, refrigerator, -- no microwave). We also provide free mineral water.

The living room is in an open air setting, and offers handcrafted tables, furniture, and very large and comfortable L-sofa.

The villa is located amongst rice paddies on a village road in a quiet setting, yet is only a few minutes drive from the cultural center of Ubud. You can also take your time and walk into town to really get a sense of the area and the daily life of the Balinese. The villa's position to the south of Ubud makes it easy to take day trips to the beaches in Sanur, Seminyak, or Kuta without any of the traffic of town. Each day the local priest’s wife places offerings in and around the property to bring a good spirit and great smells to the area. The local banjar (community meeting place) is just a short walk down the road, and one can sometimes hear the faint sounds of the village gamelan practicing as the sun sets. It is magical! Many of my family and friends are mask-makers, wood carvers, musicians and dancers, and I am happy to introduce those wishing to learn some of the Balinese arts.

The property shares a parking area and fully trained team staff with three other villas on site. The price includes daily maid service, linens and towels, wireless internet, cable television, and daily breakfast.

Airport transfer, driver to other attractions, massage, private yoga classes, traditional Balinese meals (made by the most renowned cook in the village, my mom!), laundry, rental cellphone, rental motorbike, and babysitting can be arranged for an additional fee.
Babycots/cribs and car seats also available for no charge.

Being Balinese myself, I am always open to speak with guests about Bali's rich culture and religion, and can offer tips about unique things to see and do. The Ubud area offers a number of great performances, the monkey forest, and exquisite temples, and I am happy to inform guests of authentic ceremonies and celebrations happening during their stay.

Please send us any inquiries you may have. We are happy to cater to all guests' needs in order to make your stay in Bali truly remarkable.

Low season price is $300 per night with a minumum stay of 2 nights.

High Season (December 1-January 15; July 1 and August 31) is $350 per night with a minimum stay of 3 nights.

If you know you will stay for a week or more, I am open to negotiating the price :)

Thanks, Matur Suksama -Oka

Check out by 12PM (noon)

Guests staying in the villa are expected to treat the villa as if it were their own. Guests under the age of 18 must be accompanied by adults. Smoking is allowed, but only outside, and it is expected that cigarette butts will be disposed of properly. Since the villa is located in a small, quiet village, it is expected that guests will be respectful of their Balinese neighbors who have small children. Loud parties and excessive drinking are not advised (go into town to one of the many great bars! We can arrange for you to be picked up or dropped off). If a guest is being too loud, on-site security will politely ask that you quiet down and remind you of the promise made to be respectful when renting the villa. Any damage will be assessed and may potentially lead to a guest losing part or all of their security deposit. Upon check-in be prepared to show your passport so that we may register you as a guest. Cheers!

Oka was so responsive to all my questions and requests. He made sure that everything went smoothly from picking up my daughter at the airport to checking in. My family all enjoyed this beautiful villa and the location was perfect-- close enough to town to be convenient, but not too close to be crowded and noisy. The driver was fantastic-- able to transport our group wherever they needed to go-- be it sightseeing or heading out for dinner. Breakfasts were delicious complete with an array of fresh fruit. I would highly recommend this lovely place!

Surya Kembar has a secret. Simply radiates a wonderful positive tranquility. I cant tell you what is it exactly, but you cant help your spirit being lifted by it. Perhaps the lush garden, eternal smile of wonderful staff, the history of the roomy villa (Chandra) which sports pieces of a 250 year old Portuguese ship all over its rooms. We arrived after a week in Seminyak, and we just wish we spent most of our holidays in Surya Kembar instead. Staying elsewhere in Ubud is a huge mistake! I was first apprehensive to book a villa without air conditioned living room during the rainy season, but I shouldn't have worried. The nights and mornings are absolute delightful. When it gets too hot during the day, you can choose from your own pool or the common pool by the cafe to cool down in. The attention to detail is amazing. We were very impressed how well the resort and Villa Chandra was designed. The view of the villa is no longer to the rice fields as the resort has expanded since the cover aerial photo was taken, but it is actually even nicer as the vegetation in front of the villa has also gotten more mature giving more privacy to the villa. The resort cars are always ready to drop you or pick you up from the center or take you for a day trip. So much more convenient then dealing with taxis. The breakfast is very generous and delicious. Food in the restaurant is a little bit hit and miss, and the portions are not very big. There is plenty to do in and around Ubud. Day trips to the volcano by bicycle, temples, markets (Central market is a madness, but side street vendors towards Dewi Sita less "persuasive"), amazing restaurants ( our favorites are Ibu Oka and Laka Leke), chocolate factory ( dont take the tour at Pod chocolate, it is a tourist trap), elephant track, Review for a 5 nights visit at Villa Chandra in Feb 2016, Family with a set of grandparents and 2 kids under 5.

This has been one of the best experiences I've had so far! A group of 7 of us stayed at the Villa Chandra in the Surya Kembar Villas. When we arrived, we were welcomed warmly by Oka and his crew. They were all so friendly and helpful. The estate itself was beautiful, but we were even more pleased when we arrived at our very own Villa Chandra. Beautiful infinity pool, with spacious living areas and bedrooms. We literally stayed in our villa most of the time because it was too nice not to be in it, and everything was within reach. They had an in house restaurant where you can order from, a bar, and the best massage I had which we ordered to have in our villa. There were also scooters we could rent from the villas, and cars that could drop us off in town at a very reasonable price. Overall, this was a 10/10 experience, and would definitely stay here again and would love to see Oka and his crew again. Thank you Oka and please thank your team for us too!!

We had an amazing time to say the least. We were greeted with lovely mint juice and everyone was so accommodating. The villa was breathtaking and the service was amazing. Food took a while after ordering but you never have to leave the resort everything was right there waiting for you. But if you did want to leave they had private drivers waiting for you to go anywhere you wanted. Please note: it is a calm and relaxing place away from everything there is not much in walking distance but transportation is so cheap it doesnt even matter. Also this is a resort with multiple villas and a restaurant so your not completely on your own there are always staff and other guest walking around the property. But I wouldn't change anything we loved our stay.

Superb! Beautiful place, beautiful people. All six of us would go back tomorrow if we could. The attention to detail is amazing. Best kept secret in Ubud. Only 5 minutes to the center of town, and cars always available to take you to your destination. Elegant, clean and relaxed and completely I. Keeping with the spirit of Ubud. We loved getting to know Oka, his family and lovely staff.

Hi! My name is Oka and I am a villa designer and artist from Bali, Indonesia. For many years I travelled around America and the Carribean working on cruise ships, but now I have settled back home in Bali with my wife Dayu and my son Gustu. As a young boy I was a woodcarver and pottery designer and have since combined my interests in art and hospitality to design unique villas around Bali. My family is also of the Brahman, priestly caste in Bali, and I grew up learning about all of the unique and intricate aspects of Balinese culture, religion, and art from my father. In addition to being passionate about creating unique villas and art, I am also passionate about sharing information about my home-- the island of the gods-- Bali. I was once hired to do a Canadian National Geographic-like program called Departure indonesia season 3- Ring of fire and Departure indonesia season 3- A home away. You can look me up in these films!
I can't wait to share with you! -Oka
