Mini self contained houseboat on the Adur estuary

The space
“Bunty ” is a converted 30 foot cabin cruiser. The cabin has a cosy V shaped double bed which requires a small amount of agility to get in and out of .

There is a small desk area with USB charging socket and hanging space for clothes. The galley is compact, it has a full sized fridge with ice compartment, 2 ring induction hob , kettle and toaster ( no microwave) There is hot water at the sink.

There is a mechanical toilet and a standard electric shower with heated towel rail and fan ( all small but sweet and fully usable for average - sized adult humans) . Hand soap and towels provided .

We only consider children above the age of about 11 years so long as they obey the captain's rules :)

The saloon has a box seat which can be used as a single bed, table and views of the river and town.

Access to “Bunty” is by walking along a jetty then through the door and down a couple of steps into the boat. The doorways are original and therefore low height, 'ducking' is required. A couple of wooden steps leads one down to the cabin .There is security lighting for the darker hours. When the tide is high “ Bunty “ will float - she is very safely moored . At high tide is is necessary to step up onto the boat to board ( it can be a moving experience !) .

We offer use of secure bike shed for cyclists and facilities for washing the bikes after a muddy ride .

"Bunty" is small and quirky ( think caravan size) .

During these uncertain times we are leaving at least 1 day gap between all guests and are fully sanitising the accommodation as per Air BnB protocol . We are observant of safe social distancing and would ask that you do not visit if you have any symptoms of Covid -19.

West Sussex, England, United Kingdom

We are part of a unique bohemian community of about 40 moored houseboats on the river Adur which is SSSI and a RSPB reserve. The wonderful seaside town of Shoreham has a great variety of eateries, pubs and shops. We have The Ropetackle Art centre, Outdoor Activity Centre, a vintage airport ( which offers day trips and flying lessons) . Shoreham beach is great for water sports, swimming and fishing it is about 100 metres walk from the boat . The South Downs are nearby for those who love to walk or cycle.

I am a retired nurse and live with my partner who teaches fly fishing. We adore living by the water and this riverbank community is amazing and unique, we've been here for 24 years. We are both practical people and potter about at our hobbies . Mini houseboat "Bunty" has been our most recent restoration project and before that we completed construction of our floating home. We like to take life at a more gentle pace these days enjoying a simple, healthy lifestyle, Yoga, fishing, walking and generally messing about on the river. We're interested in meeting new people and sharing this place with them.
