Quiet former maid's room at the top of a Victorian family house, now refurbished with en suite toilet and separate shower and redecorated with butterfly wallpaper. TV, radio, hairdryer, tea and coffee making facilities, small fridge, wifi. £5.50 breakfast charge p/person/£3.50 continental breakfast.

The space

The cosiness of a period attic room - separate and private, self-contained. Please note that the staircase up to the attic is fairly narrow, so not suitable for the elderly, infirm, or those with heavy luggage. The futon bed is fairly low, but with a 'memory foam' mattress-topper to make it more comfortable. Most guests report a good night's sleep.

Guest access

Guests will have access to the dining room for Continental breakfast: home made bread, choice of cereals, fruit and yoghourt. Also 'full English' on request: 2 eggs (done how you like) + bacon, mushrooms, grilled tomatoes, baked beans and Hash Browns (or equivalent) plus all the ingredients of a 'Continental' breakfast. Most of the spreads are home made.

Interaction with guests

We would like to advise and help guests as much as possible regarding places to eat in the town, where to go and what to do. Also internet access.

Other things to note

Between us, we speak French, Spanish and German (as well as English) so would be very happy to host people who speak these languages. We have travelled widely and are comfortable with people of all nationalities and creeds.

As pensioners, we prefer quiet after 10 pm, but we are happy to offer a key to guests after this time. This is a non-smoking household, also no pets, preferably, although we did have one well behaved dog one frosty night, who was no trouble - too cold to leave him in the van.

You must also acknowledge
Must climb stairs - There is a narrow flight of winding wooden stairs up to the attic - not suitable for large luggage or elderly/obese people.

Hi Imran, thank you for staying with us, I enjoyed your visit. But you left behind your pale green cold-bag, with a bowl and spoon etc inside, also freezer blocks. I will keep it here in case you come and stay again. Sally

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Sallys lovely house that is full of character. The room is very cute and comfortable as well as being peaceful. Sally makes a delicious breakfast with homemade marmalade and jams. She is also very friendly and is easy to chat with. We would love to stay again in future. Thanks x

We loved our short stay here. Sally is a great host and the room is very comfortable. The location was perfect for us - it's an easy walk to centre of Beccles and the river. We really recommend the full English breakfast and all the lovely homemade jams.
