Great location
100% of recent guests gave the location a 5-star rating.
Social distance on our 1.5 acre lot with 40 feet of frontage on Jewett Pond. The property includes a 12' X 16' cabin with 6' X 12' screened porch. The rustic cabin interior is unfinished. It includes two twin beds, small table and chairs, a mini fridge, coffeemaker, toaster, and a few pots and pans. There is electricity but no running water or internet. A canoe is available. This is a camping experience with some comforts of home. Out of state guests should follow Maine CDC travel guidance.

The space
Bed linens are NOT provided- so please bring appropriate sized linens or sleeping bags and pillows. There is electricity. There is no running water. You may carry water from the pond if needed. There is a port-a-potty outside.

Outside you will find a large picnic table, fire pit, and plenty of space to pitch a tent if you prefer.

Guest access
The waterfront is cleared and there is a small dock. Jewett Pond is the perfect size for canoeing or kayaking. There is a canoe on the property which you may use while you are there. There are two paddles and 2 adult sized personal flotation devices.

Other things to note
For activities, we would highly suggest a canoe ride around the pond, a hike and a trip to Melby's. There is a canoe there that comes with the property for your use that includes two paddles and two adult personal flotation devices. Look for painted turtles on your canoe trip - they like to sunbathe on rocks and logs partially submerged in the pond.

There are several nearby easy hikes. Hawk Mountain has some of the best views and is an easy 0.7 miles to the top. Mount Ti'rem is a short hike that begins from "downtown" Waterford. Back Pond Preserve is closer to the site and is even walkable from our lot if you are looking for a longer hike (https://www.mainetrailfinder.com/trails/trail/back-pond-reserve).

A trip to Melby's diner/general store is an essential part of the North Waterford experience. Whether you're looking for a home cooked meal, an ice cream or you need an extra bottle of drinking water Melby's is the place to go. Finally, remember to bring insect repellent.

Hello, I'm Josh. I enjoy both hosting and traveling with my wife Megan and our two young children. We live in Bangor, Maine where I practice as a nurse practitioner. I grew up in Downeast Maine on the Schoodic Peninsula. Megan's family is from Western Maine. We are fortunate own properties in both locations and look forward to sharing those properties with guests. Shore Haven is a well-equipped four bedroom home in Corea, Maine we use as a vacation house when we are not hosting guests. Jewett Pond Retreat is a humble structure in the western foothills of Waterford, Maine where we enjoy hosting guests to want to be one with nature with a few comforts of home. While we love our state, we love to travel to warmer climates in the cooler months.
