With its own large quality private hot tub located right beside, it's the perfect place to rest, relax and soak your cares away in total peace and privacy - the hot tub is set under cover so can be used in all seasons/weather conditions so you can enjoy the amazing view from the comfort of the hot tub and you can often enjoy breathtaking sunrises and sunsets.

When the weather is mixed, we are blessed with amazing rainbows... often double rainbows which stretch across the valley, turning even the rainiest days into a stunning one 🌈

Guest access
To access the remote control for the electric entrance gates to Old Luckett Station (which you'll pass through to get to The Signal Box),
PLEASE STOP AT THE FRONT GATES (which may be open) and open the small key box
(which can be found on the left hand side, above the black post box) and contains the gate remote
(guests will be provided with the code for the key box in their welcome email which is sent before arrival)

To open and close the gates press the top button on the remote control once
Note: be patient as the gates open and close slowly, so wait a moment and if the gates do not begin to open/close after about 20 seconds then press the remote again - just once

IF THE MAIN GATES ARE OPEN WHEN YOU ARRIVE
Stop and collect your gate remote as you'll need it when you enter and exit the Old Station when the main gates are closed.
The gate remote is returned to the key box as you depart at the end of your stay

Other things to note
The Signal Box is a perfect place to get away from it all to relax and recharge - it's set completely privately on it's own you'll be able to unwind and find peace and relaxation aplenty here.
Artists, photographers, writers, walkers, birdwatchers, stargazers (on a clear night the stars are amazing here), nature lovers or those simply seeking some tranquility in a stunning location would find this property particularly appealing.
Being located next to a working farm means that on occasion, noise from agricultural machinery and livestock is to be expected.
In the Spring/Summer and Autumn livestock usually roam in the adjoining stock proof fenced farm fields - it's usually a large and particularly stunning herd of cows with their new born calves or ewes with their newborn lambs.
Please note that all the adjoining gardens, farm fields and the paddocks where the four sheep reside are strictly private as are our private gardens where our pet chickens, dogs and cats may be roaming.

Neighbourhood highlights

Totally set on it's own within the grounds of a former railway station, The Signal Box provides a private, well equipped and relaxing space for those who want to get away from it all and find some privacy, calm and peace in a rural setting.

Located in an AONB (The Tamar Valley) and UNESCO World Heritage Site for mining it's ideal for those who like to spend their time in the countryside sightseeing, walking, taking photos and making memories.
It's also an ideal location for guests bringing dogs/pets.

We've listed a small sample of our recommendations below, if you'd like some more ideas or inspiration for your stay, please check out our 'things to do' guide available on our oldluckettstation website - it's regularly updated with fresh information.

*Kit Hill Country Park is a couple of minutes drive uphill from The Signal Box, it's a stunning location with jaw dropping panoramic views of the surrounding area and it's also a superb area for photography, rambling and dog walking.
On a clear day from the Kit Hill monument at the summit the views are far reaching out to Plymouth, where you can view the south coastline of Devon and Cornwall. Sunrise and sunset from this vantage point are highly recommended
*The Cheesewring on Stowe's Hill is around 20 minutes drive away and is an interesting place to visit, there are plenty of great walks in this area too.
*Bodmin Moor, where many of the scenes from the popular TV series 'Poldark' were filmed, is just 15 minutes drive away.
*Dartmoor National Park is about 20 minutes drive away with its stunning and often breathtaking scenery and unique and interesting towns and villages within, we recommend a visit. There are thousands of options for walking across the park for all abilities and National Trust Lydford Gorge is highly recommended for a visit too.
*National Trust Cotehele House with it's beautifully laid out gardens and grounds is just 2 miles away
*National Trust Saltram House is 13 miles away in Plymouth
*Pentille Castle with its beautiful gardens and grounds is about 12-15 minutes drive away away. It featured in the TV series 'Delicious' and Rick Stein's TV series too.
In the summer months they hold open air theatre events which are recommended
*Calstock is with it's stunning and dramatic viaduct towering above the unique and stunning village bridging the Tamar River is about 10 minutes drive away. It's a very pretty small village with a lovely pub (The Tamar Inn) and some unique shops, it also offers wonderful riverside walks
*Tavistock is a beautiful historic town with fabulous buildings and a wealth of interesting unique local shops, its charming pannier market is well worth a visit too. Tavistock's Bedford Hotel is famed for introducing afternoon cream tea, it's cream first on this side of the border (jam first is the correct way of course (O:) it's just 15 minutes drive away
*Tamar Trails in Gulworthy is perfect for for walking, cycling and tree surfing - if you like a challenge! You can also book a canoe trip here in the summer season too. Around 10 minutes drive away
*We highly recommend visiting the south coast fishing villages: Looe, Polperro, Fowey and Mevagissey they are all stunning and each is individually worth visiting. You can decide which one is your favourite... they are all within an hour's drive from The Signal Box
*St Mellion International golf and leisure resort is less than 10 minutes drive away and offers two golf courses, spa and gym. Why not book a game of golf on the championship course? or enjoy a relaxing massage in the spa?
*Beautiful Charlestown, is another 'Poldark' filming location and is just 30 minutes drive away. The dramatic open harbour area is wild and stunning, the town has some lovely restaurants and many shops to enjoy, we prefer visiting outside of high season when it's less busy
* A favourite place for a day out is Port Isaac of TV's 'Doc Martin' fame, it's just 55 minutes drive away located on Cornwall's North Coast in the most stunning setting. It also has many unique little shops and restaurants (book ahead). It's such a unique and beautiful village if... a little too busy in the summer months - so we would highly recommend a visit here out of the main summer season to enjoy it at it's best.

The local area is a world heritage site for mining and there are many old mines in the areas with the remains of tall chimney's and engine houses worth visiting, a map of the local mines (there are hundreds) is displayed on the wall in The Signal Box.
There are some great pubs & restaurants in the locality and a bit further afield. Devon and Cornwall is a foodies paradise, so if you like your food, you're in for a treat, the local seafood is especially good.
We highly recommend Cornish crab, we often enjoy it with some freshly baked bread and Cornish butter, for us, there's nothing nicer than a fresh crab sandwich.
There is a large Tesco supermarket within 2 miles and plenty of well stocked farm shops in the area, including our favourites: Tre, Pol and Pen located in Lezant and Eversfield Organic located in Tavistock, we can highly recommend these shops who provide a good range of high quality local produce, ideal for those who wish to home cook during their stay.
We have provided a range of maps, guides and leaflets in the property for guests to peruse at their leisure and we are also delighted to provide recommendations, just ask if required.
We provide an information folder in the property which contains menu's from the local take aways in Callington (some will deliver for a fee): Chinese, indian, fish and chips, kebab's, pizza, burgers and fried chicken.

Louis Tea Rooms is a short drive uphill (left out of the main entrance gate, at the top of the hill go over the crossroads and it's located on the right hand side after you pass the entrance to Kit Hill Country Park on the left)
It provides a take away service and licensed restaurant - for breakfast, lunch and dinner, afternoon cream tea or just coffee/tea and cake. It offers a wonderful range of decent food at reasonable prices and also has a small farm shop which stocks a good selection of produce.

We recommend the app iwalkcornwall for walking and rambling - especially if you like to bespoke your walk with specific requirements such as a pub en-route, length/time, difficulty level, or dog friendly etc...
We are on insta gram, face book, tik tok, u tube and have our own website - oldluckettstation and we will be sharing our photos and recommendations on this platform too, please follow us for a flavour of life at the Old Station, ideas for days out in Devon and Cornwall as well as recommendations for places to eat.

My husband Tim and I moved from Surrey to Cornwall in Summer 2017 giving up our careers; I worked in foreign exchange at Gatwick Airport for 23 years and Tim in the motor trade in Beckenham, Kent for over 30 years. We decided it was time to move and we sold our then home and went for it! We share our lives here with our cat, dogs, chickens and sheep, we feel very lucky living in this unique and special place, you never get used to the breathtaking view, it's always changing and always amazing!
