For us, locals, this is the favorite area of the city. Only 10-15 minutes’ walk from the main tourist attractions, like Old Riga, Art Nouveau quarter, all museums, parks, central station and so on… At the same time, it is much quieter, cozier, not so crowded, more "locally" and not "touristy".
Moreover, in order to have a great time, it is not necessary to go to the Old Town every time. Quite the opposite, this area is famous for the huge number of small cafes and restaurants for every taste, with much more attractive prices than in the tourist areas. Literally behind the door of the apartment you will find dozens of cozy and authentic establishments for food and leisure, designed for any budget and taste.
Pay attention to the hipster place like Kaņepes kultūras centrs; great street food like Reigys Ausmeņa kebabs, Stock Pot, Big Bad Bagels, Pho+, Tavs Banh Mi; pizzeria Picu Meistars; restaurants – Fish House ROI Restaurant Riga, Beef Eater's, COD Robata Grill Bar; beer place Alus Celle; wine places – Simsoni & Vīni, Vīna Studija; coffee houses – Miit coffee, Muffins and More, Rocket Bean Roastery… All this is only a small part of what you will find outside the door of your apartment!
