The space

A lovely, spacious apartment perfect for families and couples as it has tons of living space, a lovely private garden and a bathroom for each bedroom.

The flat is located on the ground and lower ground floor of a Victorian pub conversion (no lugging your buggy up and down stairs!). There is a very large reception with double-height ceiling, large flat screen television and piano plus a separate dining room and kitchen which has glass doors opening onto a pretty, private walled courtyard garden. This is perfect for children to play in during the day (sand and water tray included!) and for adults to have a relaxing drink in during the evening! There are high ceilings, a chic modern interior and loads of entertaining space, including a dining table for 8-10 guests. The flat is decorated with contemporary art and classic 60s furniture.

Our home has two bedrooms. The master bedroom has a super kingsize memory foam double bed and an ensuite shower room. The second bedroom is a small double in size and is currently used as a child's room with a cot. We can put two single mattresses in this room making the flat suitable for two couples as well as a couple with two children. (Two couples used to share this flat comfortably.) There is also a large family bathroom. The flat is child friendly: we are on the ground floor, there is direct access to the walled garden from the kitchen, and loads of safe space for play.

Guest access

The entire flat will be available. Guests will also have access to the garden.

Interaction with guests

We rent the flat while we are away. We hope to meet guests when they arrive if possible, but can arrange key pick-up when we are not here.

The neighbourhood

Hoxton Street is ideally located to explore the East End art scene and get to the City. The street is an awesome mix of traditional East End (there's an eel and pie shop, a traditional East End market - Saturdays - and old fashioned bakeries) and trendy Shoreditch (art galleries, cafes, restaurants and bars). As Hoxton Square and Shoreditch are 5 minutes away there's access to great nightlife - tons of bars and clubs within stumbling distance - plus it's a great spot to enjoy amazing food; there are fantastic (and cheap!) Vietnamese and Korean restaurants on Kingsland Road, high class modern British, Japanese, Indian and even Peruvian within 10 minutes walk. At the weekend you can enjoy all the markets nearby - Spitalfields (fashion), Brick Lane (vintage), Broadway (fashion and food), Columbia Road (flowers and interiors) - and from the flat it's a nice walk up the canal towpath to Victoria Park for a laid back brunch by the lake. The flat is surrounded by galleries, so if you love art, this is a great place to start.

Getting around

All the fun in Shoreditch, Hackney, Brick Lane and Dalston are within easy walking distance, but there are plenty of buses if you are feeling lazy, including night buses if you go out late to the bars or clubs. Old Street tube station and Hoxton Overground station are a short walk away, plus there are plenty of buses to the City (25 min bus journey), West End (40 min bus journey) and Islington (20 min bus journey).

There's a cheap and reputable cab office 50 metres from the front door. They do an airport drop/pickup for around £40.

Regent's Canal is 5 minutes away from the flat and is a good route through the city; it's fun to walk or cycle along the canal towpath, with its narrowboats and trendy waterside cafes. 'Boris' bikes can be hired for very little and picked up/parked from bays 200 metres from the flat.

On the canal towpath it's a pleasant 20 min stroll to Broadway Market, which has cute independent boutiques, cafes and restaurants, traditional pubs and a thriving Saturday market. 10 minutes further on the canal towpath gets you to Victoria Park where you can go boating on the lake and have brunch or coffee and cake. A 20 min walk from the flat in the other direction takes you to Angel, Islington, which has a bustling high street with shops, cafes and restaurants. These distances take half the time by bike! Ting ting!

Amazing....what a treat to find a beautiful quiet apartment with a courtyard in central London. Our host were extremely generous with information and the location provides easy access to everything. My partner, 3 year old son and friend could not fault the layout, amenities and cleanliness. We even asked to extend our say. This is now our go to apartment when in London.

The hosts were amazing, very welcoming and the place is lovely. They made you feel at home and were always available for any questions we had. I would absolutely stay again as they treated us like family and it was one of the best airbnb experiences I had.

I am a teacher, charity project manager and painter living, loving and working in Hackney. I live with Jon, my boyfriend, a solicitor, and our 2 year old son, Wilbo. Jon and I were both born and brought up in Hackney so have lots of local knowledge to share. Our house is full of paintings and books. My father is an artist working in Hackney so we have a collection of his work along with other pieces. Hoxton is a busy central location, but our flat is quiet and calm with a pretty garden you can chill out in. We always try to leave our home clean, ordered and welcoming for guests; we want our guests to love Hoxton as much as we do.
