Strawberry Patch is a historic set of quaint cabins located on the Little River, in Townsend Tennessee. Townsend's central location is perfect for the adventurer or the city goer. Spend time here fishing in the river right outside your door, hiking in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park 3 minutes away or taking a short drive into Knoxville for an iconic UT football game. If that doesn't fill your vacation with plenty to do, Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg are only a short drive away.

The space
This is your home away from home while in the Smokies! Attractively decorated serviced apartment (we do the cleaning and supply the bed linens, towels and kitchen cookware and serveware). Pop in some coffee in the Keurig and enjoy your cuppa on the covered porch overlooking the Little River or venture in the backyard and pick your own spot on a chaise or picnic table.

While staying at Strawberry Patch please be mindful of your neighbor and quietly enjoy the outside porches, the picnic tables, chaises, the lawn and the sitting areas along the river.

Bring your ENO (or any other hammock) and find a spot to hook to one of the trees. There are two sets of stairs - one on each corner of the property - so bring a tube to float in the river, a fishing pole to wet a line or a kayak or canoe to paddle downstream.

Directly in front of the property is a sidewalk to take a stroll along the river, or visit the local shops. Go left and connect with the 10 mile walking/hiking/bike path towards the park entrance.

Experience Tennessee and the Smokies at Strawberry Patch - whether you like to photograph or just observe the spring wildflowers or fall foliage, are an avid hiker or biker, a fly fisherman who wants to wet a line right outside your door, a family who wants to unplug and sit by the river and create lasting memories or a couple on their honeymoon - this is the place to call home while you are here. Have a child doing a college visit at UT or want to attend a sporting event, musical performance, or show - Strawberry Patch is 40 minutes from Knoxville. Does the thrill of the Alpine Coaster, visiting Dollywood, or riding the ferris wheel at The Island interest you - Pigeon Forge is just a short ride across Wears Valley. Gatlinburg and it's many attractions including Ober Gatlinburg are just a little further beyond Pigeon Forge or take the scenic route through the GSMNP.

Once you arrive in Townsend, we are pedestrian and bicycle friendly, with our dedicated, paved 10 mile linear-loop. Also check out the Cades Cove 11 mile Loop, located within the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, by bicycle exclusively on Wednesdays and Saturdays between sunrise and 10 am. Otherwise tour this historic and breathtakingly beautiful adventure for some of the park's best wildlife viewing by car, or horseback (Cades Cove Riding Stables). You are sure to see one of the 1,500 black bears in the park, coyote, deer, turkey or a songbird.

Hiking your passion? We are your gateway to more than 800 miles of maintained trails from a short walk to an overnight camping expedition. Abrams Falls, Laurel Falls, Spruce Flats Falls, Gregory Bald, Cumberland Gap, Rich Mountain Trail to the Appalachian Trail are all here.

Photographers Paradise - check out the 200' tall double waterfall and the 400' long, 150' deep 'Big Room' if you like shooting water. If not, the 1,600 kinds of flowering plants, cantilevered barns, spectacular sunrise and sunsets or that blue smoke drifting along the mountain that takes your breath away is sure to provide the perfect picture.

Does floating down the Little River sound like fun? River Rat will be happy to accommodate a tube and a shuttle to pick you up so you can do it all over again!

Welcome to your home away from home, situated on the banks of the Little River! You can even hear the rushing of it from your room, which is a 1926 restored barn or a 30 year old remodeled Inn. Over the 2 acre property there is a small waterfall to relax by and read a book. Pick your spot right by the river or jump right in if you'd like; there's two staircases to lead you into the river to wet a line or float in a tube. There are plenty of chairs for those less daring! Or if sitting on the porch overlooking the river and reading a book is more your speed, there are quite a few to choose from right in your room. A long day of relaxing can make you hungry so I have a grill on property for an afternoon BBQ or you can sit around the authentic fire pit for some marshmallows. You and your guests can have a wonderful, relaxing stay on property or venture a few miles away into the Great Smoky Mountains National Park for some wildflower and wildlife viewing. If you're looking for up-beat attractions those are right around the corner in Knoxville, Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, which are only a short drive away. If you would like to get married at Strawberry Patch I can do that! Family Reunions, Holiday Gatherings and Anniversaries are time well spent making memories by the river. Whatever you're looking for in a vacation I hope I can accommodate you with a quiet, quaint, rustic experience at Strawberry Patch.
