Pillow talk! Thank you for your comments. Tell us, please, were they flat, too hard or too soft?

The house is exquisit! There is a big difference between a house built and kept for personal use vs a place created and kept as a rental. Great taste, gorgeous local art on the (Adobe!) walls, stocked with everything (way more than the basics), and amazing views. Our only issue …

Matias, in addition to you and your family being wonderful guests, you had a great suggestion regarding dealing with the heat. I will investigate it.

If you like staying in a clean, well organized and equipped, lovely adobe house that backs to a beautiful mesa, then Carl and Gretchen's place is for you. The sunset view from the porch is spectacular!

Response from Carl And Gretchen:
Anne , thank you so much for the feedback. Actually, we began making so many trips to NM to visit newly found relatives, that Gretchen suggested that we buy land, which after a long search we did, then came the house with some design to use it as a retirement home. However, due to my cancer (now nonexistent), our daughters beginning to have children (8), and Gretchen's second thoughts about being so isolated, we decided to use it for a vacation home, with the same hopes of providing a respite for others as well as for ourselves. Your suggestions are very valuable. I will pass the information on to our housekeeper and Jan, our neighbor, for those things they can keep an eye on. When I was there in April, the temps were a bit on the cool side, so I turned on the pilot and the stove, but then forgot to turn them off, so thank you for doing so. I apologize for that extra heat that you didn't need! I'll take care of the phone battery and the Wifi password - again, I'm sorry for those inconveniences. You went above and beyond on the hummingbird feeder, but thank you. You are wonderful guests, very considerate, and we hope you will consider us again. Sincerely, Carl and Gretchen

This home was a gem! The area was so quiet and serene. There are plenty of rocks to climb and trails to hike. Our kids really enjoyed being outdoors and we loved the gorgeous sunrises and sunsets. We were surrounded by beautiful scenic views from every direction. The home is…

We raised our children (biological, step, adopted, foster and grand) in Minneapolis, but after having traveled for many years to Colorado and New Mexico to visit Carl's father's Spanish-speaking side of the family, we decided to build our retirement home close to family in New Me…
