Our home is a quaint and typical house of old Coyoacan. This bohemian neighborhood is just the perfect place to stay and explore the huge Mexico City. This house holds not only lots of Mexican charm but an artistic family that will make your stay unique. Enjoy our place! Feel welcome!

The space
Ayuntamiento 70 B&B is a charming restored Colonial-Californian home in the middle of the very sought after and historical neighborhood of Mexico City: Coyoacan. It is offering a most dedicated service to all our guests in a clean, organized and secure ambiance. Each room has its own bathroom, quality bedding and linens and each is decorated with attention to the colors and textures of Mexican handicraft. The property is spacious and has terraces, garden, patio, a large living room and an impressive open plan kitchen with dining area.
This house is surrounded with cozy areas with chimney, piano, lots of Mexican handicrafts a small dance studio...meditation sessions a few days a week, the large kitchen is a joy!

Guest access
Ayuntamiento 70 has always had an artistic touch, and since I am a ballet teacher and choreographer. Ayuntamiento 70 is also host to Ballet Club Mexico. This small dance studio holds ballet classes for children and a few days of the week. The studio that holds youth ballet company "Ballet Joven" is just around the corner. Guests are always welcome to visit and observe rehearsals of the company. Some lucky ones get to be present when the company holds performances and get tickets!

Other things to note
This house was built in 1927 in what is called here in Mexico as Californian-Colonial style. It was originally built by Don Jeronimo Rodriguez, a Spanish expat that was into big movie productions of the golden era of Mexican Cinema. It is said, celebrities of the time such as: Mario Moreno “Cantinflas” and Maria Felix used to visit this house. The house was also a shelter to many Cubans that fled their island and stopped in Mexico City before heading to the United States in the late fifties and early sixties. Many Cubans recall the address of Ayuntamiento 70 as the “House of Liberty”. It is when they finally arrived to this house that they knew they were safe and ready for the journey ahead. Later on, it was owned by renowned novelist and screenwriter Rafael Solana and eventually I bought it from his niece.

Location

Ciudad de México, Mexico

Coyoacan is a place to be immediately immersed in culture, color and tradition. By simply walking through its plazas and small cobbled streets you step back in time. The location could not be better with its museums, squares, churches, markets and that special ambience of old colonial grandeur and indigenous charm that Coyoacan proudly presents. With the advantage of our close metro station you can get to the centre of Mexico City and experience all the wonders of the historic quarters, the museum areas, the vast shopping and later return back to the peaceful cobbled streets of good old Coyoacan. It is said that people who live in Coyoacan never wish to leave. I guess our dear Frida Kahlo could not agree more.

I am madly in love with my good old Mexico and all its charm. I direct a youth ballet company (Ballet Joven ) so dance, music, culture and cats are my sort of things. Welcome to Coyoacan, you will be delighted! Bienvenidos!
