Hello there and welcome to Ghent! The apartment is located in a calm street in the middle of the historical center of Ghent. In fact, the house itself is a part of it. The building's origins go back to the 14th century and the interior has numerous original 19th century elements such as ceiling, fireplaces and hardwood floors. The iconic must-see churches, cathedral, town hall, belfry, museums and much more are literally around the corner, as are dozens of restaurants and small bars.

The space
The apartment is located on the 1st floor. It has a private bathroom with shower and toilet, a small kitchen, diner table, sitting area and a double bed. There is a small balcony overseeing the street.

Guest access
Guests can use the entrance and hallway which give direct access to the apartment.

Other things to note
I've been trying to keep as much of the authentic architectural elements in place while at the same time provide modern-day luxury and commodities.
In 1818, the house was owned and remodeled by Maurice Maeterlinck's grandfather, Belgium's only Nobel prize winner for literature. The hardwood floors may creak and squeak here and there, but they tell a story of great history.

Location

Gent, Vlaanderen, Belgium

The house in located in a somewhat forgotten street, even for locals. That makes it very calm and quiet. 200m on our right you'll bump into the busiest shopping street of Ghent, 500m to our left you're at the town hall and belfry. There's even a shortcut through the 'Werregarenstraat' also known as 'the Grafitti-Street', the only place in the city where it's legal for artist to make spray-paint murals. And there's not a stone left uncovered. The 'Vlasmarkt' and 'Patershol' areas around the corner are known for their many restaurants and bars. As much as I've tried, there are still many I haven't visited myself

Hello I'm PJ! I've been living in Ghent for as long as I can remember, I've grown up here and have always loved its ancient buildings, small streets and vibrant social life. Although it's a fairly small city, its cultural and gastronomical opportunities never seizes to amaze me.
