We had a very pleasant stay. Good communication. Danny was a great host and very thoughtful (Douglas was away). The home is lovely -stylish but comfortable and cosy, and a short walk to town. Butler's pantry was well appointed and convenient. Bed comfortable. Sprawling porch. Bathroom nice, and spotless. We had two great light breakfasts at Cassava (i may be fudging the name), and O's Diner is another v.good option a block away. Excellent dinner at John Andrews just outside of town. Hillsdale is a quaint, quiet home base for easy hikes, a quality Saturday-morning farmers' market, and access to the most popular Berkshire towns when you want that. Incidentally, I'm not a huge dog person (depending on the dog), but I fell in love with little Dean. He's a very sweet boy and a charmer. I miss him already.

Our second stay in this magical place on a quiet road in Hillsdale. A front porch for sitting, beautiful art books for reading, and a successful marriage of Greek revival architecture and mid century modern. This hideaway is convenient to many Berkshires venues-- Shakespeare and company, Tanglewood, excellent restaurants and hikes of all difficulty levels--without the madding traffic of some of the larger towns. We intend to return whenever we get the opportunity.

Contemporary Farmhouse. We adored everything about the design & everywhere you look there is a special detail that makes this home very special. We spent one day exploring the nearby Berkshires & another day in Hudson. We made sure to save time to stop in the local Hillsdale shops & found some great places to shop for gifts. A highly recommended breakfast spot was Crossroads & it lived up to our expectations- they are also open until 2:30 for lunch. In Copake we had dinner at Dads Diner! So fun & yummy casual meal. The place was packed and there was a constant stream of people going for ice cream behind the Diner! We stayed in the room with a private bathroom & that was great: very comfortable, clean, with great books, a big closet and continuing the fantastic decor elements.

My husband and I loved our stay at Douglas's and Danny's gorgeous home. Douglas and Danny are the most thoughtful hosts. When we arrived we were surprised to find an adorable Happy Anniversary cake waiting in our bedroom. Douglas was away during our stay so we didn't get a chance to meet, but I emailed with him prior to our arrival and he was always prompt to respond and incredibly helpful. Danny showed us around the house and made us feel very welcome. There is a lovely butler's pantry that is stocked with cold drinks, snacks, breakfast items, fresh fruit, coffee etc. They really go out of their way to take care of you. Danny even packed us waters and fruit for our drive home! From terrific dinner recommendations (Prairie Whale) to antique store suggestions, Danny's advice made our anniversary trip really special. The house is quiet, bed is comfortable and there is AC in the room which we used on one humid night. We really loved every moment of our stay there and hope to return for a future visit!

This house is absolutely gorgeous inside and out. Our room was extremely clean and they had everything we needed, including a welcome package. If you're in the area, stay here. You will love it.

Douglas User ProfileDouglas is a superhost.

I live in Hillsdale NY with my partner and my miniature pinscher. Before moving to Hillsdale, I lived in New York City, Miami, Chicago, Los Angeles, and Nicaragua. I enjoy entertaining, taking walks in the surrounding hills, and working on my house. I frequently travel all over the world and really enjoy meeting people from different places. I also enjoy the local restaurant and cultural scene in the Berkshires and the Hudson Valley.
