Base Camp Guesthouse is located in the very heart of the old part of Veliko Tarnovo.

Staying with us, you will be just in a few steps from the Samovodska charshiya, declared an architectural reserve and famous for its beautifully preserved traditional houses, cobblestone paving, small workshops, antique shops, galleries, little squares and the emblematic Hadji Nikoli’s inn.

The enclosed garden outside gives a nice private and secluded feeling.

The space
Base Camp Guesthouse is not just a place for an overnight stay, but an accommodation from a traveller for travellers.

Here you can slow down, relax and enjoy socializing with other like minded travellers.

You can dive into the labyrinth of small cobblestoned streets of old Veliko Tarnovo, passing by local workshops, galleries and little squares. You will then admire the breathtaking view of the picturesque town from Tsarevets and Trapezitsa hills. Where you’ll be

Veliko Tarnovo, Bulgaria

Veliko Tarnovo is dramatically set amidst an amphitheatre of forested hills, divided by the ribboning Yantra River. Commanding pride of the place is the well-restored Tsarevets Fortress, citadel of the Second Bulgarian Empire. As the site of one of Bulgaria’s most prestigious
universities, Veliko Tarnovo also boasts a revved-up nightlife of which many larger
towns would be jealous. There’s great food and drink, too, with the best places enjoying
stunning views of the river and castle. At the other hand, the old-world ambience of the Varosha quarter, with its terracotta rooftops and lounging cats, makes for wonderful leisurely walks
in a place where you can feel the spirit of a bygone time. And here we are - Base Camp Guesthouse is situated in the historical heart of Veliko Tarnovo. In a short walking distance you will find yourself at any of the top attractions of Veliko Tarnovo. Base Camp Guesthouse is located in a very quiet one-way street. It is never noisy and yet if noise is what you’re looking for you’re a minutes walk away!

I believe that if one is working what s/he loves, benefits will be not only for this person but also for everyone, engaged in work with him/her. Because when we do what we really care about, we work much harder and with much more enthusiasm and finally we bear fruit. This is why after more than four years working in travel agency for adventure tourism and dealing with bookings for incoming active tours among others I went to Spain and South America to improve my spanish and to check if the patagonian wind is as strong as they say. And yes, it is really powerful! Apart from hiking, camping and backpacking I have worked in a 3* hotel in beautiful Andalucia, helped to run an albergue on the the most traditional of all the pilgrims' ways to Santiago de Compostela - The Camino de Santiago and volunteered in a hostel as a work exchange in Puerto Natales - a tiny settlement in Chilean Patagonia. Considering this and also my previous experience in Sofia Guesthouse, Sofia I realized that I would be happy to come back to a picturesque town of Veliko Tarnovo, my home town, and run a guest house, because as it is said “Life takes us to unexpected places, but love always brings us home!”.
