Charming, very quaint, sunny 1 bdrm apt., 4th floor walk-up w/ full bath and kitchen, located in the heart of Chelsea, NYC. Located above the A, C, E subway and one block from the 1, 2,3 subway. Laundry, great restaurants, galleries, and more.

The space

The apartment is a REAL one bedroom, unlike many make-shift one-bedroom apartments. There is a door on the bedroom separating it from the living area. The space is VERY clean and comfortable. The kitchen is fully equipped to cook and bake. The bathroom is fully equipped with shower and tub. There will be fresh sheets and linens for the bed, and fresh towels and wash cloths provided for subletter. You have a color TV, wifi, and Bose stereo. You even get gourmet chocolates on your pillows!

Guest access

Guests will have keys to the apartment and have full reign of the apartment. There is a clothing rack in the bedroom for guests to hang their clothes.

Interaction with guests

I will have interactions with guests as I'll be in the apartment. But guests will not be feel encroached upon.
You'll notice there have been cancellations by me with out of town, long term guests. That is because I need to be on site and not leave the apartment building for extended periods due to the AirB&B laws in NYC. It is a different story if I am on site.

Other things to note

I have a great book & music collection, if you like ot read or listen to music.
My apartment is exceptionally clean. Really!
You will have all the additional amenities you'll need while you stay: hairdryer, hot rollers, Q-tips, chocolates, etc.
You have a fully equipped kitchen in which to cook.
You'll have fresh, new clean towels and wash cloths.

Hope was a lovely host. She gave us a very warm welcome and was very helpful, giving us advice about the best way to reach her apartment from JFK (A train to 14th), museums, restaurants etc. The apartment is great for two people. Clean, colourful, not too cramped, the bed is so comfortable, air con in the bedroom and living room, a hairdryer, separate bathroom (you won't always get this in New York!). If you aren't used to street noise then you should be aware this is New York and as the song goes, its the city that never sleeps and the bedroom faces the road. It's a 4th floor walk up, so (for British visitors) that means you walk up 3 flights, I'm not mega fit and it was not an issue for me. The location is great, close to the high line, Chelsea market is one block over (handy for breakfast) right next to the metro. I loved this apartment and would highly recommend Hope as a host.

The apartment is in a great location and nicely decorated (with aircon). There is a subway stop right outside and everything you need for an authentic experience of NYC. Hope was a fantastic host, always available if required. Would definitely recommend!

The apartment is colourful, bohemian and artistic, rather like the host! There are so many lovely details in the decor and it has everything you need. Hope was incredibly accommodating about letting us leave luggage the day we were leaving and even arranged friends to help us carry the luggage up on arrival - that was a lovely welcoming touch. And she is very helpful with information before you arrive etc. The only downside, and this is just because I am a very light sleeper, is that the bedroom is on a busy avenue and with an air conditioning unit in the window, it's like sleeping with the window open. It is on the 4th floor and my husband had no trouble (sleeps like a log, oh I wish I did!) I slept fine on the sofa. The bed itself is beautiful and new with lovely linen. It's in a great location; 5 minutes to the Highline which is a must see, and that's next door to the Whitney which is next to the river. Perfect. There are plentiful restaurants and boutique shops and the best supermarket in the world is around the corner! Ok that sounds pretty geeky, but we don't have them like that at home! Very handy for a night in or a picnic in Central Park. It is minutes from so many subway and bus options that you can easily get anywhere. The whole experience had a very warm feel about it, a lovely airbnb.

I am an educator and an artist. I work in the NYC school system as a Museum Specialist. I have 2 masters degrees for which I am grateful and proud to have. I enjoy my work very much; I work very hard and play hard, too.
I have wonderful friends, love to eat all kinds of foods (and am learning how to cook). I love to travel, learn new things, play the piano, visit with friends, & read great books.
I have had the same group of friends for the last 30 years. I love and respect my father, who is also my friend. I love animals. I have a beautiful godchild named Charlotte, who is one of the smartest, sweetest, most incredible little human beings I've ever met.
I can't live without creating something new everyday. I can't live without friendships and love. I take my friendships and all relationships very seriously and treat people with kindness. I am honest and do my best to service those I love and even those who I don't know.
I love my home and welcome guests to experience NYC by staying in a safe and beautiful place. Welcome to NYC!
