We had a wonderful time at Maria's charming house. Both Maria and her husband were the perfect hosts, and the breakfast was fab. My only complaint..the photos don't do the house justice :-)

Maria's cottage is a wonderfully remote space on the smallest Aran Island, an amazing place for couples and adventurous folk who want to get far away. It's rustic yet comfortable, and situated close to the town's pubs and pier. The restaurant they also run was absolutely wonderful, and both Maria and Enda are great to talk to to learn about the island, the history, tips, etc. Would love to return and stay for much longer!

Lovely cottage right in middle of town.Basic facilities but that's part of its appeal.Great welcome,we accidentally locked ourselves out at almost 2am and Enda was down to us within five minutes with a key.

Response from Maria:
This is a very old cottage dating from the early 1800's. It is a unique example of vernacular architecture and is suitable for couples who like the atmosphere in the place. It has old whitewashed walls and painted concrete floors. Old buildings like this will have some dust and innocent insects like moths have been known to enter. It is as clean as can be. Generations of decent people have passed through this house. It is shocking that this guest gave us no indication of anything but gratitude for being picked up from the ferry, being picked up for early breakfast 7.15 and brought back to the ferry and all of the other things that we went out of our way to help her with - until this appears?

Note to other travelers - wait for Maria to pick you up at the pier. You won't be able to find the cottage on foot using your GPS. I learned this the hard way! That being said, I loved this cottage! It is exactly the kind of place you'd want to stay if you're on Inisheer. It's like stepping back in time but with all the modern amenities. Maria or her husband will also pick you up for breakfast in the morning, as that's in a different place (they have a restaurant down the hill) and they'll also take you to the pier again to catch your ferry. Great experience!
