Interaction with guests

Keys to the property are located at the site. I can be reached by cell phone at anytime.

Detailed instructions about the Airstream and the property are provided in the House Manual section once you book your stay.

Other things to note

In order to truly experience this property as intended, you should enjoy camping and being out in the country.

The Airstream is your "basecamp to the Beartooths" and is intended to provide shelter from the elements, clean and comfortable beds to sleep on in a sleeping bag at night, and a large table to eat meals at.

The Airstream has all the amenities you will need: air conditioning, a large RV fridge with freezer, a microwave oven, a drip coffee maker, a toaster oven, table fans, and lamps/night lights throughout the trailer.

There is a strong well with clean mountain water for drinking, cooking, cleaning.

Good cell service available with Verizon.

The interior of the Airstream provides numerous electrical outlets throughout for charging your cell phone/laptop, etc.

Storage space provided above and below the beds in the rear bedroom for belongings.

The 12V system in the Airstream does not currently work so there is no running water inside the trailer.

There is a separate and private bathroom/toilet in mid section of the Airstream that is functional but you will need to bring water in from the well.

The front area/bed and back beds can each be partitioned off for privacy with a retractable curtain.

I provide a propane fired Zodi shower + Pahaque privacy tepee with floor drain so that a hot shower is available at the end of the day after hiking/mountain biking/fishing/sightseeing or in the morning before you begin your adventures.

I provide 3 sleeping bags - 1 for each of the beds in the rear of the trailer and 1 for the bed in the front of the trailer. These bags are very comfortable and designed for more moderate temperatures so you won't be too warm when using them.

Also provided are lounge chairs and a table for enjoying meals outside on the property while taking in the breathtaking mountain views.

I provide my Guests access to camping equipment if they would prefer to prepare their meals outdoors. This equipment includes a small propane fueled Webber grill for grilling, a Coleman cook stove for heating water for cooking/cleaning/preparing meals on, and a Coleman workstation to work on when preparing meals, washing dishes, hanging towels to dry, etc.

There is a 10% Lodging Tax that I am required to collect for each night of your stay (7% to the State Of Montana & 3% to Carbon County Montana). This is in addition to the base rate.

July 4th 6:00 am, we were having coffee behind the trailer, from our chairs, we counted five adult mule deer, and three fawns. Two of the fawns were nursing from their mom. To the left of us by the ponds, there were four Sand Hill Cranes feeding. There were a few houses on the road in, but the area was private and quiet. The view of the mountains was spectacular. We came to day hike, and we did, but it was wonderful to come back to the property. We did not cook, we used the Airstream for sleeping. The drive to Red Lodge or the Grizzly Bar in Roscoe is short and scenic. We called our host and extended out stay another day-if work had not been calling me, we would have stayed longer. The Airstream could use some TLC, but it was fine for our purposes. I have already recommended it to friends. We hope to be back next summer for a longer vacation.

Jonathan: Thanks for the nice review. The cabin property does have a wonderful view and it also has a stream running through the property and Aspen and Cottowood trees that line the banks. I am always striving to improve my Guest's experience so do let me know what you feel I could have done/can do in the future to accomplish this. Cheers! Andy

First and foremost, the setting of the Airstream was really amazing. We loved sitting on the vista reading and enjoying the view as the sunset over the mountains behind the trailer. We completely understand the concept of "Big Sky". Andrew was a very good host. We were given all the information we needed before arriving and he does his best to make your stay comfortable. While we did not use everything he provided by way of cooking and shower gear, we were very happy with the sunshade, table and chairs. I appreciated that the trailer was outside of town but did have neighbors. I was happy to feel like we did not have people on top of us yet it didn't feel totally secluded. It is about 15 minutes to Red Lodge which is very convenient. The previous reviews were correct. This is definitely rustic. The trailer is an older trailer and it had a little smell to it but we found it to be very, very clean. There are plenty of electric plugs that work, lamps for light, and a drip coffee maker (this was unexpected and awesome). All in all, this is definitely not for everyone but we thought it was a great way to spend a few days. No running water is a little rough for us longer than our 4 day stay (we did some impromptu well baths). Once again, we really enjoyed our stay at the airstream.

My husband and I stayed in the trailer to celebrate our 3rd wedding anniversary. We loved our stay! It was perfect! The trailer was clean and comfortable. Andy is a very thoughtful host, providing everything we needed (we definitely appreciated the shower). The communication beforehand was clear, and we had no problems. The location is beautiful! We were planning on going hiking during our stay, but decided to just hang out on the property because it was so beautiful. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Response from Andrew:
Elicia and her husband were great Guests. They were able to figure the Airstream/the property out without any problems. They left the trailer in great shape and made my job that much easier getting the Airstream ready for the next Guests. So happy to hear that they enjoyed their anniversary celebration at the property.

The Airstream is definitely cool and in a beautiful location. Andrew is a great host - very thorough and good communication. I think the previous reviews and description are pretty accurate. One thing I wish I'd know in advance was that the Airstream is in a very exposed location. There's no shade, and the ridge gets a lot of high winds and storms. We found the trailer to be pretty unpleasant on the day we were there (bad smelling and little air circulation) and camping to be unrealistic due to weather. To be fair, it was exceptionally hot when we were there, and Andrew definitely investigated those issues. But we weren't really able to fully enjoy this beautiful spot during our stay.

Response from Andrew:
I went down to the clean the trailer with my wife the day after Jenifer ended her stay. We did not notice any smell inside the trailer so I am uncertain as to what she was smelling during her stay. I did check the trailer thoroughly for any evidence of mice but did not find anything. As for air circulation inside the trailer, this has never been raised as an issue before. There is a strong air conditioner to cool down the trailer that provides plenty of air flow. Opening the 3 ceiling vents in the trailer along with the front door so that you have the screen door open normally provides more than enough air circulation for most Guests. There are also fans in the rear bedroom of the trailer as well as the front living room of the trailer. All of these should have been sufficient to create air flow inside the trailer. I provide several pictures of the trailer in the Listing which show the location of the trailer on the property. The trailer is located on top of a hill in the foothills of the Absaroka-Beartooth mountain range. Strong winds are common in the area which prevents any trees or vegetation that could provide shade from taking root.
