located at the tranquil, southern boundary of the quaint fishing village of Cape Jervis, at the tip of the Fleurieu Peninsula, a scenic 1.5 hours drive from Adelaide, Ithaka is a unique and intimate self-contained cottage getaway for discerning couples. Enjoy uninterrupted and inspiring views of Kangaroo Island from the open-plan living and dining room. Sit on the front verandah decking and watch the ferry cross to Kangaroo Island. Enjoy the rich native bird life: rosellas, blue wrens, wedge tail eagles. Relax as stunning sunsets enliven the breathtaking panorama. Dream and float with the island so amazingly close, just across the ocean views of the Backstairs Passage. This delightful retreat has all modern conveniences, and is furnished in comfortable mid-twentieth century and contemporary style, with original artworks decorating the walls. Conveniences include easy-use and completely modern galley kitchen; Internet; large flat-screen HD (LCD) TV with extensive (and free) DVD in-house library; BBQ & laundry facilities, and off street parking. I have written and had 6 books published on Australian cultural history, heritage and the arts. I am a Churchill Fellow, and sat subsequently on the Churchill Board (SA) for some 6 years. From 2004 to 2011 was the Executive Director of Nexus Multicultural Arts Centre in Adelaide, and sat on the board of Kultour (national multicultural organisation), two years as Chair. In Melbourne I was Coordinator of J-Studios Artists' Community for 2 years. I'm now a freelance cultural consultant/historian, writer and painter.
