The Kennels Cottage - Perfect Speyside location on route A941, approx halfway between the town of Elgin (8 miles) and the village of Aberlour (7 miles)
Whisky & Castle country
Built in 1871, now refurbish by Roy the owner, using my trade skills as a joiner.
It now reflects a home from home for up to 4 people sharing the 2 king size beds.
BASE RATE: is for
2 sharing 1 king size bed.
For 2 guests requiring to use both bedrooms. An additional £15 (per stay) via Airbnb.

The space
The cottage comprises of:
Ground Floor:
Utility Room, With washing machine and tumble dryer.
Kitchen:
Well equipped with good quality appliances large fridge freezer, double electric oven and six-ring halogen hob, microwave & dishwasher includes D/W tablets. Table sits 4.
Dining Room:
Whisky themed room, good sized room with large dining table.
This is where an additional (EZbed with bedding) can be set up for £15.
Front hallway:
With cloakroom/WC
Sitting Room:
Relax with a dram in front of the open coal fire (from October to April please request to use outwith these months)
There is a £10 additional charge for use of the fire: includes kindling I scuttle of coal/peat which is usually enough for a good evenings burning.
Additional £5 per scuttle OR you can buy coal/peat/kindling at a service station.
Also includes my cleaning out when you depart.
Bathroom:
Family sized bathroom with shower & separate bath.
Inner hallway with feature mahogany staircase leads to upper landing:
Bedroom 1:
Large room with King size bedstead with fine quality bedding. Feature cast iron fireplace, painted original 150 year old wooden floors
Table with seating for 2.
Bedroom 2:
Large room, window looks out to the pine & birchwood forest.
King size bedstead & fine quality bedding. Hanging space.

Guest access
Nightly rates are based on two sharing one bedroom.
If two guests need to use both bedrooms please let me know when booking as I make a £15 charge via Airbnb.
If one of your group does not want to share the 2 Kingsize beds.
Please do not use the sofa in the sitting room as a bed. I do have an EZbed and bedding available for a £15 charge. I do require notice prior to your arrival date and Ill set it up in the dining room.

Other things to note
There will be very limited distillery tours during the restricted social distancing measures. My most common comment from previous guests is that they wished they’d booked a longer stay that's why I now only allowed 3 nights stays or more.

The Glen of Rothes is approximately 4 miles long, The Kennels cottage is half way along it. Hills on either side approximately 1100 feet high and the basin of the Glen where the cottage sits is at approximately 500 feet above sea level.
Nearest shops are in the village of Rothes (population 1250) only 2 miles away
(Please check directly for opening times during Covid19)
In Rothes there is The Station Hotel for dining & has a whisky bar &restaurant.
The Glen Grant distillery
The larger town of Elgin (population 23k) is only 8 miles away and has a lot more to offer for eateries and supermarkets and where you’ll find Glen Moray distillery

A Speysider born and bred at The Macallan Distillery on the Easter Elchies Estate. The dining room has a whisky related theme.
Prior to Covis19 pandemic!
I did provide, for a fee to cover my time, "a welcome evening" based on you group size and utilize my being brought up at The Macallan distillery and spent 10+ years as a local tour guide and 53 years of living in Speyside.
Sorry this is not an option until further social distancing measure have been relaxed by the Scottish government.
