Had a good stay in La Fortuna at The Sleeping Indian. Dohanna was an excellent host, providing great help with food & drink ideas, as well as booking excursions in the area a breeze. The Sleeping Indian is located in downtown La Fortuna, across from the central park area. Within walking distance of many shops and restaurants. The sink in our bathroom needed some work (faucet was hard to turn off and sink wasn't attached to the floor) and the room could use a ceiling fan or just a fan on hot/sticky La Fortuna nights. Other than that, we enjoyed our time at The Sleeping Indian. Tim & Sherry

Another enjoyable stay at my favorite place to stay in La Fortuna. If your looking for a place that is centrally located, clean and comfortable you will find it here. However for me the best part of of your stay here is the chill vibe set by the wonderful hosts. The large common area provides ample space to relax, read, wifi, or get to know fellow travelers from around the world. If these things are important to you the Sleeping Indian will become a favorite of yours too.

We had a nice stay at Peter's, it's in a very central location and Heidi gave us some great recommendations on things to do in La Fortuna. The kitchen is great and it was lovely to be able to cook after a few months on the road. We found the place a bit noisy at night - lots of cars driving past with no mufflers and there seem to be some animals in the roof. The towel and curtains could also be improved and it would have been nice for the cleaner to empty our bin during the 3 night stay.

Amazing and helpful hosts, homey, so clean, amazing sheets, great location to downtown, strong wifi, perfect stay. Would stay here again... And the only thing preventing me from referring this place to everyone would be worry that it would be overbooked when I want to stay again:)

My [adult] daughter and I enjoyed our stay at the Sleeping Indian Guesthouse. The common area and kitchen were clean, comfy and artsy. We enjoyed visiting people of all ages (from 20 - 75). I believe that there were only 4 rooms for rent off of the common area, so it was not loud or crowded. Our room faced the road, so there was some road noise, but that is to be expected. The location is perfect, a block or two off the main roads through town, but easily walkable to everything. We drove to La Fortuna and they had a place for us to park the car, that was locked at night. Heidi was super helpful getting us oriented to La Fortuna and surrounding areas, and for making suggestions. I recommend it.

Our stay at the Sleeping Indian was quiet, convenient, and clean. Great location and for being full, we never really saw anyone else. Heidi helped a lot with our transportation from the airport, she was very responsive to our needs. Great wifi, lots of hot water, highly recommend!

Great location, great host, excursions bookable through host which made planning much simpler. Great Soda Viquez very close to the flat. Just hope for no rain so you can actually see the Arenal Volcano as well as the blue water @Rio Celeste.

Peter Ferguson the owner of the The Sleeping Indian Guesthouse and welcomes international travelers from all over the world.. Peter is a world traveler who has explored many varied countries and environments and has chosen La Fortuna as his favorite place on the planet and is enthusiastic about sharing his knowledge of this special area of a special country. The Sleeping Indian Guesthouse is centrally located in downtown La Fortuna named after a little chain of mountains next to Volcano Arenal in La Fortuna, Costa Rica. The wind and rain of millions of years of evolution has formed a chain of mountains that looks just like a sleeping indian. The more you look- the more you are amazed, since it seems that these giant mountains actually are a big Indian lying down. We think that no matter what kind of traveler you are, everybody likes to feel at home. Making you feel at home is Peter's goal. He loves people and he loves hosting.
