Welcome to Coconut House! A large house on multiple levels offering various private and common spaces. Ideal for families or a group of friends. The house is just off the seafront, and a 3 minute walk from the beach.

The space
Having undergone a complete renovation in 2013 and a recent update, the house offers comfortable accommodation for 8 people (10 in a pinch), with four bedrooms and six bathrooms (four en suite). The house is arranged on multiple levels around an internal garden and is designed to provide each bedroom with private space as well as ample common areas and roof terraces with sea views .

The house is open and airy. In addition, each bedroom as well as the common areas are equipped with ceiling fans, ensuring a breeze throughout the year.

Located just off the seafront the house is in the ideal spot to enjoy both the beautiful 9 mile white sand beach, and daily village life. Lamu Town, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site is a 30 minute walk, or 15 minute boat ride away.

There are no cars in the village, and everyone is extremely kind and helpful.

During your stay

Our house manager, Lawrence, and one more staff will be on site during your stay to assist you with any cooking and cleaning needs. Lawrence is an excellent chef who can cook delicious Swahili dishes (fish curry, coconut rice, chapati) as well as modern recipes (ceviche, sashimi, octopus salad). Ingredients in Lamu are fresh: they come directly from the sea and from local farms, and bread is baked at home.

If you do decide to eat some meals at home, you can provide the staff with a cash float ito buy groceries for your meals. If you would like meat or specialty items it is recommended that you purchase them in Nairobi ahead of time.
