A self catering cottage in an idyllic location with wonderful coastal views. Set in a traditionally crofting community, a mile west of the seaside village of Portnahaven, this family cottage is a perfect place to get away from it all and relax.

The space
The cottage itself includes 4 bedrooms which can sleep 7 - 1 double bed and 5 single beds.
The living room is large and comfortable with excellent views out to the ocean. There is an open fire which is perfect for cosy nights in winter. TV with DVD player included, with several DVDs to choose from. There are also board games/cards for rainy days.
Kitchen has all the essentials - kettle, cooker (gas hob and electric oven), microwave and fridge, but the freezer and washing machine are in a separate utility room.
The main bathroom includes a bath and walk in electric shower and toilet. There is also a separate smaller toilet in the property.

Neighbourhood highlights

Views take in a wide sweep of land, from the surrounding crofts to the Rhinns of Islay Lighthouse. Looking out across the Atlantic on a clear day you can see the coast of Ireland.
Currie Sands is within 5mins walk from the house - perfect for a picnic lunch on the beach. A rocky beach is also minutes away by foot, where you can spend time exploring the rockpools, and occasionally seeing some seals!
Close-by Portnahaven is a picturesque village which is a scenic mile walk away. It has a small shop and post office and also a pub, An Tigh Seinnse, which provides drinks and meals using local Islay produce.
Port Charlotte is also nearby, where you can learn more about the island in the Islay history museum, as well as dine out in it's various restaurants.
Islay is famous for it's whisky, and the closest to the cottage is Bruichladdaich Distillery. A 30min drive away from the cottage is Kilchoman Distillery, a great day out for everyone. There's also a fantastic beach, Traigh Machir, to relax on, as well as historical sites to visit.
