Great location

Seeking a safe place to hunker down? This cabin in the woods has no cell or internet. You won’t feel the incessant pull of technology delivering horrid news day by day. A peace and tranquility you thought was no longer attainable. Bring a few novels. Savor the words on a page that isn’t blinking with ads. Write your memoir. Sink into yourself. We have a landline and you can give your loved ones our number and tell them not to call unless an emergency. Explain you are enjoying a place of peace.

The space
A few things to note: The road to the house is a 3 mile long national forest dirt road (and they don’t maintain it very well so it will be rough). in winter you will need four wheel drive. This road leads up to one of the most quiet and secluded places on the planet so is well worth the drive. The stream that fills the pond beside the home is intermittent so it may be dry during the summer months prior to the monsoons.

BTW - We disinfect all handles, knobs, switches etc. and block three days before and after each guest's stay to ensure you will have a safe and healthy stay!

Guest access
The entire home is here for your use. The garage is off limits except to put your trash in the trashcan inside.

Other things to note
Please bring your own pillow.

Location

Pecos, New Mexico, United States

This home is in a small community of 12 houses on a pocket of land that is surrounded by thousands of acres of national forest. The forest service road that branches off Highway 63 (which runs along the Pecos River) is a bumpy and rocky three-mile ride up to a solar gate which opens to our beautiful paradisiacal cabin. The stream and pond will occasionally be dry due to drought conditions but usually the Dalton Creek is chortling past the home then filling the pond that is on the property. See a craggy rock formation right out the back window, aspens and conifers swaying and sighing in the wind, bounties of wildflowers in meadows come summer. Hike to your hearts content and likely never see another human. If you are looking to get away from it all, this is the place!

Hello. I love nature and live three miles up a dirt road surrounded by the Santa Fe National Forest in the mountains of New Mexico. This is about as far away from Wayne, NJ, where I grew up, as I can be. I have a very independent spirit which is why I've spent most of my life being self employed. I've been a potter, construction worker and am now reinventing myself while hosting interesting guests (like you!) from far away in one of the three homes my husband and I have built or renovated with our own two hands or one of the houses I am tending for our neighbors. Our greatest work together and the light of our lives though is our daughter, Reina, born on the cusp of a century in 1999. Some of the things we like to do as a family are going to the Santa Fe Opera or watching productions of the Santa Fe Shakespeare Society or watching Reina perform in her own dramatic roles on stage. I look forward to working for you and sharing these very special places with you while making your visit to the Santa Fe area the best vacation you could possible have. As a host, I will do my best to provide the things you want and need to make your stay a pleasant one. I am very unobtrusive~you may never see me, but if you would like a tour of the area, I would be happy to do that too. If anything goes wrong, I will be right there to fix it. Please let me know if you have any issues or concerns during your stay. I want it to be perfect.
