Beautiful area

Guests love this home’s scenic location.
Our house sits at the bottom of a secret track in a private, historical cove on the beautiful Hebridean island of Lismore. Secluded, quiet and peaceful, Port Moluag is within easy reach of the Scottish mainland whilst feeling totally removed from the pace and noise of city life. The house is newly-built using eco technologies to limit its environmental impact and is surrounded by wonderful wildlife such as seals, otters, and a multitude of birds as well as many sites of historical interest.

The space
The house provides stylish, comfortable accommodation for two people, including a spacious large bathroom with dual sinks and walk-in shower perfect for relaxing after a day's exploring the island on foot or by bicycle.

Superfast fibre wifi is available throughout the house.

Lismore has a well-stocked shop and a selection of high quality local food producers who can help provide the culinary delights the fertile land and sea produce.

Privacy and seclusion are yours once you go down the private track from the public road. More often than not wildlife will be the only creatures you will see within the cove.

Lismore is an island community and is welcoming, friendly and varied. There are often community events at the public hall or excellent visitor centre and cafe where you can meet many of the locals.

We are an approved Short Term Let, license number AR02454F

Guest access
Guests have access to all parts, and sole use of the house.

Other things to note
Please note the terrain around the house is rugged and it adjoins the sea. Whilst the sea is rarely rough in this area, sensible precautions if swimming should be taken, and much of the coastal walking and exploring is only suitable for the physically able.

To save energy we don't have a tumble dryer but hang washing outside or inside on a pulley. If the weather has been wet, sometimes our co-host may have left sheets drying inside.

Neighbourhood highlights

Lismore is the nearest of the Scottish Hebridean islands. It is full of history wildlife and Scottish tradition. With a population of just over 200, the island is restful and quiet.

Port Moluag is a small cove, home to an 18th century boatyard and the remains of sixth century St Moluag's chapel. St Moluag was a Scottish missionary and a contemporary of St Columba. According to ancient lore, as St Moluag sailed towards Lismore he saw a boat containing St Columba making for the shore at highest speed. St Columba’s craft was the faster and when St Moluag saw that he was going to lose the race to be the first to bring Christianity to the island, he seized an axe, cut off his little finger and threw it on to the beach.
