Where you’ll be

Portland, Victoria, Australia

Portland is a coastal town approximately halfway between Melbourne and Adelaide and a major hub along the Great South Coast. It is ideally situated central to the Great Ocean Road and the Limestone Coast, with day trips to the Coonawarra wine region and the Grampians National Park.

Portland township is traditionally known for the operational deep sea port and cable tram, however in recent years regular visits from southern right whales, an increase in commercial and leisure fishing and access to tucked away natural wonders via the Great South West Walk has seen an increase in tourism.

Just 19km from Portland you’ll find Cape Bridgewater, voted one of Victoria’s best beaches. Other highlights include, the impressive Glenelg River and mouth along Discovery Bay, Victoria’s kelpie capital Casterton and the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Budj Bim. This traditional landscape is located on the traditional Country of the Gunditjmara people, exhibiting the world’s oldest and most extensive aquaculture systems.
