The space
Open concept kitchen, dining and living room. Deck and enclosed porch overlooks sloped spacious backyard-wildlife & fishing is plenty. Window A/C in living room & two bedrooms (during summer), fans in all bedrooms. Amenities includes WiFi, 3 kayaks & a pedal boat, life jackets, fire pit, gas grill & floating dock. TVs with Firesticks for you to login to your streaming services (no cable), plenty of DVD movies, games, books, & puzzles available for both adults and children.

NEARBY ACTIVITIES:
The cottage is located in a rural area, waterfront on a channel into Port Bay, which then offers access to Lake Ontario. Fishing, kayaking, boating, hiking, bird watching, nearby beaches, wineries, farms, and quaint towns & shopping/diners make this an enjoyable rural destination. Or just put your feet up, take in your beautiful surroundings, roast marshmallows around the fire pit, let the kids fish and catch critters while you read a book, watch a movie, and relax away from it all. Enjoy the serenity of kayaking/boating around the beautiful area to view the abundance of wildlife. Bring your poles and fish right off the dock or take out the kayaks/boat to try your luck fishing out in the bay. Fishermen will find a variety of fish including whitefish, lake trout, perch, brook trout, northern pike, smallmouth bass, chinook salmon and walleye in Port Bay and Lake Ontario. You may see a variety of wildlife right from the property including deer, cranes, swans, geese, turtles, frogs and other creatures.
A rocky beach with swimming in Lake Ontario is a quick 5 minute drive up the road. Fair Haven Beach is 8 miles from the cottage and offers a spectacular sandy beach, playground, hiking, and be sure to include a stop at Colloca Winery! Visit Wolcott or Fair Haven for an ice cream, stop at a diner, visit local wineries or breweries or browse stores for some local treasures. A 25 minute drive takes you to Sodus Beach and Lighthouse. Also heading West is the infamous Chimney Bluffs, spectacular views, hiking, and a small beach area nearby Thorpe Vineyard. Should you have a boat, there are two free boat launches on Port Bay, or find a fishing charter, or rent a pontoon! Our dock is available should the water level be high enough for you to use our channel to the property. If you're heading to Oswego, we are about a 30 minute drive away with beautiful rural driving to get you to the college, Splash Waterpark, and more.
The Finger Lakes are less than an hour away if looking for a full day wine tour along Cayuga Lake, a visit to Belhurst Castle along Seneca Lake, shopping at the Waterloo Outlets, or finding other hiking trails. Niagara Falls, the 1,000 Islands, and a visit to the Adirondack Mountains also make great day trips within a 2-3 hours drive. Port Bay in Wolcott, NY is a hidden gem as it is an ideal location for many different adventures. Experience as much or as little as you want while on vacation!
Please note: You should be physically able to walk up and down a hill, as you will need to do this to walk from the parking area, house, fire pit, and dock. Hill has steep areas.
Guest access
Please note, vehicles must park at the top of the property. You MUST be able to walk up and down a hill to access the cottage and use the firepit and docks. Some lawn areas are steep. You will have the cottage & property to yourself. Rental also includes use of 3 kayaks and a pedal boat. No basement access, only main floor.
Other things to note
*This is a rural location on the water, so expect to see a variety of wildlife including bugs. Please bring insect repellant to help deter mosquitoes.
*Please plan to bring your own beach towels if visiting the beach. There are no refunds due to weather or water levels as these are out of our control.
