Things to see and do:

Chichester harbour:

It takes ten minutes to walk down to the sea front from Thatchways’ Nook. From there you can walk along to Chidham, Prinsted, Emsworth, and to Thorney Island. At high tide it’s possible to swim and there’s a small pebbly beach at Prinsted which is a half hour walk away or a 5 minute drive. At the weekends the Scout hut at Prinsted serves ice creams and tea.

The area is fabulous for walking and cycling and close to the South Downs.

Emsworth:
Emsworth is a pretty fishing village with a selection of shops, restaurants, cafés and pubs. It’s a great starting place for a walk along to Langstone harbour but also worth a visit for a meander, a delicious lunch or cream tea at the Driftwood café or an ice cream looking out over the mill ponds. The walk to Emsworth is approximately an hour through fields and along the coastline, with views across the harbour and to Thorney Island. Alternatively it’s a 10 minute drive.

Bosham:
Bosham is one of the prettiest villages in the harbour. It has a fabulous ice cream parlour and is delightful for a wander, a visit to the Saxon church, and to enjoy beautiful views from the seafront. Bosham is a ten minute drive away.

Chidham:
Chidham is a peninsular close to Thatchways’ Nook. It has a great pub called ‘The Old House at Home’ which serves good quality food and has a nice garden. It’s a lovely walk down to the pub through fields and along the coastline taking approximately 40 minutes. Alternatively it’s a five minute drive.

The walk around the entire Chidham peninsula is 5 miles and very beautiful with wonderful views across the harbour. It’s great for bird watching.

West Wittering:
This is the place to go for sandy beaches, windsurfing and kite surfing. Easthead is great for exploring the sand dunes and beach barbecues. West Wittering is a 25 minute drive away but if it’s the weekend and the weather is fine you need to leave early!

Chichester:
Chichester is a charming city. The cathedral is beautiful and well worth a visit for its beautiful architecture and history, events and concerts. The city is full of lovely shops - both high street and boutique, restaurants, and is well known for its theatre – Chichester Festival Theatre. Pallant House Gallery has an excellent modern British art collection as well as an exhibition programme of modern, contemporary and international art. The Novium museum tells the story of Chichester and the surrounding district with the remains of Roman baths forming the main part of the ground floor.
