Cast yourself away into the heartland of the stunningly beautiful French countryside, 9km from the historic town of Rochechourt.

The property has its own private lake and all amenities are powered entirely by solar.

Peace and tranquility guaranteed!

The space

100% solar powered & eco-friendly. Escape the rat race and relax off-grid at one of our eco cabins.

At Castaway we are proud to support the environment by using only solar energy and we are passionate about sharing the experience with you.

There is a fully functioning kitchen with gas hob-cooker, whistle kettle, french coffee press, utensils and a fridge.

The spacious bathroom has a jet shower cabin, toilet and sink.

The double bedroom has a single roll-out bed underneath the double bed for younger guests.

Heating is provided by your very own log burner in the living room and water is supplied from the on-site well.

Whilst internet is not provided, television and a DVD player is available to offer you some modern comforts.

Please be mindful that we are entirely dependant on the sun for our energy power and the rain for our water supply. Therefore our inputs are all 12v (luxuries such as hair straighteners will not work). If you have USB mobile/computer chargers we ask that you please bring those along (a power adaptor for USB's is provided).

A 12v hairdryer is also supplied for your use.

We have 4 bicycles available on-site for your use.

Guest access

Our guests have 100% access to the land including the lakes. We have a floating pontoon on the lake for fun "lake surfing" or romantic glides across the water. Parking is provided and a security gate and camera are installed at the entrance.

The on-site owners have two friendly labradors and two fluffy cats who are kept apart (except for those guests who want a little companionship or someone to teach them how to lake swim!)

Interaction with guests

The owners are on-site to offer you any help, should you need it, including suggesting the best sites to visit in the local area but prefer to leave you to discover the tranquility and beauty of the site for yourselves.

Other things to note

Bed linens and towels are provided during your stay as are all kitchen utensils.

We also provide minimum products such as hand soap and dish detergent.

We offer all of our guests a bottle of wine to enjoy at your leisure as you unwind either on the decked terrace or in front of the roaring fire.

* the fridge can only be powered in summer months. There is outdoor storage to keep produce cool in winter months.

Tony has created the perfect off-grid escape for you there. This place in the middle of the National Park in the Limousin is simply beautiful. The closest cutest village of Rochechouart and its chateau is 10 minutes down a scenic road, and if you feel adventurous one can dip in their lake, or take the boat out. If you would like to switch of and relax in a cabin powered by nature, then you will love this place.

We had a fabulous five days staying at the cabin. We were near family but still had plenty of time to swim in the lake and relax outside in the mornings & evenings. Peaceful and beautiful - couldn't ask for more! Having the usb charger meant we could keep phones charged (for sat nav purposes & reading the news - no work!). The kids loved the bedroom, the swing & playing around the place. Great place to stay. Thanks Tony.

This cabin is even more beautiful than it looks in the pictures! As soon as you arrive it is almost impossible to remember any of your troubles from day to day life. We were so happy and relaxed in front of the open fire or watching the sun set on the veranda... The cabin has everything you need to make all your meals and for off-grid living is pretty luxurious really! We can't thank our hosts Tony and Ange enough, they are both so genuine in their welcoming you to share this space. They are passionate about their creation and it shows in every attention to detail throughout the cabin and its surroundings. They also understand and respect your privacy allowing you to really unwind in this beautiful setting... Thank you both, hopefully see you soon!

We had a wonderful stay in the Eco Cabin. Tony and Angie are amazing hosts - we were made to feel welcome as if we were old friends. The Cabin is gorgeous and contained all the 'mod cons' we needed including a lovely wood burning stove, very comfortable bed and excellent shower. The cabin is neat, clean and tidy - very homely. The location is gorgeous - set on beautiful grounds on a lake, private enough so you can really switch off but just a short drive to the local town. We enjoyed coffee by the lake in the morning and drinks on the pontoon in the evening - bliss. One of the highlights of our stay was an invitation from our hosts to Join them for dinner on their island on the lake! We had a great evening and really enjoyed getting to know them more. We loved the easy going nature of our stay at Castaway we ended up staying an extra night. We honestly can't thank Tony and Angie enough for making our first family holiday so special and we highly highly recommend it for a relaxing getaway. We will definitely be back!

Stayed for one night at the Eco Cabin. Tony and Angie made us feel very welcome and were the perfect hosts - even treating us to a Sunday roast as we had run out of food on arrival! The location is excellent; tranquil, pretty and an amazing escape from the bustle of everyday life. Our children particularly enjoyed the wildlife, including frogs, lizards, kingfishers, crickets and two entertaining dogs. Highly recommended - especially if you want peace, quiet and friendly hosts.

Tony is such a welcoming host. The little eco cabin is beautifully, well furnished - cosy, yet minimalist with everything one needs to feel comfortable. It truly is off the grid which is great for people who really want to disconnect from the world. That being said, all the mod-cons are there! Swimming in the pond (I'm Canadian - we can't see the other side of our lakes) is delightful - fresh and clean. Even though we stayed at the cabin in July, we didn't see any other tourists during our long bike rides. On the other hand, the locals, both French and English, were very friendly and helpful. We definitely intend to go back.
