Furry friends welcome

Bring your pets along for the stay.
This romantic Shepherds Hut is tucked away in the picturesque village of Fittleworth, at the heart of the South Downs National Park.

Furnished to a high standard, sleeps two in a comfy king-sized bed. Features include a log burning stove, kitchen/dining area with electricity and running water.

The kitchen is well equipped with a fridge, electric kettle, one ring electric hob & oil radiator.

Outside you will find an outdoor composting loo & shower as well as garden furniture and a fire pit.

The space
This pretty traditional shepherds hut is situated in a 7-acre ‘bee friendly’ meadow and is surrounded by historic woodland.

Internally the small space was been cleverly designed to include a king sized bed, log burning stove, sofa, dining table & chairs and little kitchen with all the things you might need for a weekend away.

The Hut comes with soft comfy bedding, towels & blankets to snuggle up. A heated blanket is available for the winter months.

Outside, the space is vast and natural. Relax with a sundowner on the comfy chairs, watch the flames dance around the fire pit, look out for wild deer, listen for birdsong, cook outside.

Pop into our local shop & cafe Fittleworth Stores for local produce and supplies.

We have many local pubs nearby offering great food & countryside views. Booking is advised.

Visit the market towns of Arundel, Petworth, Midhurst & Chichester. Or, the white sand duned beach of West Wittering (book car park in advance).

The Hut is walking distance to Lords Piece, Coates Common, an area of natural heathland in the South Downs National Park. Close to Petworth Park, National Trust, well worth a visit at any time of year.

The perfect rural romantic getaway for couples looking to relax & reconnect with themselves and nature.

Other things to note
Please feel free to bring supplies for the indoor, little log burning stove (small kiln dried logs, wood briquettes or, small coffee logs are best). Larger logs and bigger bits of wood or, any type of charcoal is ideal for the outdoor fire pit.

There is no WiFi at the Hut. Please check with your mobile phone provider for coverage at postcode RH20 1EU.

Occasionally, in really cold weather (0 degrees and below) the water pipes may freeze. If this happens, you may be asked to reschedule your stay with us.

One small, well behaved dog is welcome to stay at the Shepherds Hut. Please remember to add a ‘Pet’ to your reservation when booking. If you are planning to bring a dog please note we have pheasants and wild deer visiting so it’s advisable to keep your dog close by at all times. No dogs on beds or furniture please. Leave only footprints in the South Downs National Park, bin dog poo & litter, thank you.

Please note in Autumn you can expect horse chestnuts (everywhere!).

Our closest shop is Fittleworth Stores in School Lane, Fittleworth. They do great coffee and offer a nice breakfast/brunch. There is a Tesco & Sainsburys in Pulborough & a Co-op in Petworth. A Waitrose in Storrington.

Logs and fire lighting supplies are usually available at Elite Garage, Pulborough.

I spend too much time: Cleaning!
Hi, I am Lindsay. With each sunrise I feel fortunate to be in the South Downs National Park. Waking up to birdsong, spending the day in nature and falling asleep beneath star scattered skies. I host three reassuringly beautiful properties. The Hut - a shepherds hut nestled beneath a majestic Horse Chestnut tree in meadowland. The Bothy - formerly the ‘potting shed’ to the walled garden. The Yurt, a grounding biophilic space for reconnection.
