We decided to have an airBnB stay in the mountains while praying to be able to see the Cherry Blossoms in Mount Yoshino. As the accommodations in Mount Yoshino was fully booked out, I started searching for alternatives and found Kuniko's atelier home in Higashi Yoshino which is about 40 mins drive away. We are so happy with our choice as we are privileged to have the lovely well equipped home to ourselves and most importantly experienced warm Japan hospitality of our host Kuniko San and her Daughter Makiko San. We will remember for many years to come the fresh air, streams outside our home, warming our feet under the japanese table heater when the temperature went down to 3 degrees during a spring storm !

I am so glad I came here to Kuzo, Kuniko and Takeshi's Atelier. Their hospitality is full of genuine warmth and friendliness. I felt at home straight away. Overlooking the pristine waters of a gushing stream just below was a perfect way to start and end each day! A quintessential Japanese family living in a most unique part of this world. A space for peace, rest, contemplation, (URL HIDDEN) it rains outside, the sun shines... beautiful...Utsu-Kushi

Staying with Kuniko and Cazu is a great pleasure. Lovely hosts that enjoy giving you a great time and will go at length to keep you a happy tourist. The house is stunning and the spot is absolutely breathtaking. The house is completely fitted with everything you need in japan (and beyond, of course). The heated TOTO included. Sleeping on futons is a different experience but we enjoyed it since we used them at the time as well. Go and hike, drive around and enjoy the scenery, towns and great 'undiscovered' attractions. Like the Hasedera temple. Great experience.

One of the best home stay experience we ever had in Japan! The house is very artistic and beautiful. Also very clean and tidy. I love the bathtub so much. Highly recommended to all! Kuniko San and Sakamoto San are very friendly. They made us a salad which is delicious and healthy. We will come again soon.

We loved our stay at Kuniko's beautiful atelier. The mountain location is beyond picturesque and was easily the most beautiful place I have ever visited. Kuniko and Kazu went out of their way to help us and to make us feel at home. Their recommendations for the neighbourhood allowed us to see the best of the beautiful area, and their kindness shone through when one of my family wasn't feeling well. Please note that the recommendations to rent a car are well warranted. Without it, we would have struggled to see much of the neighbourhood and wouldn't have enjoyed our stay as much as we did. Thank you, Kuniko and Kazu. We hope to visit again soon!

Definitely something special, this is an inspiring house/atelier run by an inspirational family, who have collectively created a beautiful space to be either contemplative or creative in. You can of course just enjoy the peaceful surroundings and the mountains. The hosts Kuniko and Kazu treat you as friends, going out of their way to help you settle in, and ready with suggestions on how you may enjoy the area. Equally they are discrete if you wish to do your own thing. An interesting place, encouraging local enterprise and artisans in addition to beautiful mountain scenery and wildlife. The house is well equipped and reflects the creative taste of the owners. Highly recommended.
