Room in a home

Your own room in a home, plus access to shared spaces.
My 1950’s house is on the outskirts of Whitby in a quiet cul-de-sac, with parking on the street/seccure place for bicycles.
I'm half a mile from the cliff tops and Cleveland way. 15 minutes walk down hill in to Town (so uphill on the way back!!). I offer a simple help yourself breakfast of cereal, toast and hot drinks, included in the price.
The 'White House' with good pub grub is a 10 mins walk. I am close to a Lidl that has 2 rapid charge points, and a Spar store with cash point and fuel.

The space
I moved to Whitby in 2014 and I am gradually updating the house. The house has a good feel to it, quiet and relaxed. Guests are welcome to make themselves at home in the dining and living room. I also have free Wi Fi.
I like to take care of the environment so I try and recycle and avoid packaging as much as possible.
I am an artist so you will see some of my work dotted around. I have a studio in my garden so you would be welcome to see more of my work.
In the summer on warm days there is a pretty garden to sit in but I also have a good drying rack for wet walkers clothing!

Guest access
Guests basically share my house with me. I take bookings for one, two or three people - I don't rent any spare rooms to other guests, so your bedroom is/are totally yours during your stay. I have a lovely dining area for breakfast or if you need to sit at a table to work. My lounge has comfy chairs. Please note there is no access to cooking facilities.

During your stay
I work from home a lot so am on hand to give advice about places to eat (I have a fish and chip shop guide!) and places to visit in Whitby and further afield. If we are all up at the same time then we can breakfast together and have a chat, but there is no set breakfast time if you need to leave early or want a lie in.

Other things to note
There are odd occasions when I may not be able to greet you, or may have to leave early in the morning. However I do have a key safe so that can be arranged should it be necessary.

The bathroom is shared, there is a separate loo also shared. Its not high tech but it all works. I often use my downstairs cloakroom when I have several guests.

Although I do not allow dogs, I have the details of a local dog sitter who will look after dogs overnight.

I always have vegan alternatives to milk etc as I am non dairy, but don't worry I have milk for milk drinkers!

I can offer private art tuition, we can discuss this on booking if you are interested.

Neighbourhood highlights

I live in a quiet friendly neighbourhood. Its a short walk to get to the sea, or not far to the old railway line for interesting walks or cycling.
There are many events in and around Whitby - historic and musical together with the 'pirate festival' or the famous 'goth week end' to name but a few.

My work: I am an Artist
Most useless skill: I can write 'mirror' writing!
What makes my home unique: My loo has a beach themed mural!
For guests, I always: I always offer a hot drink on arrival.
I am a 60 something lady and an artist. I travel a little and usually on my own so it is nice to have friendly accommodation. I like to eat vegetarian and vegan food and I love the outdoors and gardening. I have toured Europe in my ancient camper van which sadly is no more. When I am travelling I just like simple but friendly accomodation, and that is what I offer at my own home. I am alergic to cats - so there are no animals in my home.
