Saunton Cottage is set in 16 acres of beautiful countryside with far reaching views across the valley looking over one of the 2 substantial lakes on the property. The words most often used by guests to describe the environment are serene and tranquil – a real escape from the hustle and bustle of modern life.

We have direct access to the renowned Tarka Trail via a private track in the grounds. You can walk to it without having to go on a road and then you are on a lovely 35 mile cycle/ footpath.

The space
The house itself

A 2 bedroomed cottage with large open plan living area downstairs and all of it beautifully equipped. For out of season breaks, the property benefits from gas central heating and an lpg log burner stove for cosy evenings in. Outside, there is an enclosed patio with far reaching views, perfect for al fresco dining. One bedroom has a king sized double bed and the other is a twin room. The king size bed can be converted to 2 twin beds if required. Please let us know if you would prefer this.

The cottage is close to the owners’ farmhouse and one other holiday cottage, but thick stone walls mean sounds do not transfer between houses.

Although we love getting away from modern day life, we recognise that guests need to be able to keep in touch and so there is fast wifi broadcast throughout the site with a “reasonable use” policy in place.

We happily accept up to 2 dogs, although they will need to be on a lead at all times outside as there are sheep and lambs in the fields and dogs are not allowed upstairs in the house.

Neighbourhood highlights

Equidistant about 30 minutes from both the stunning North Devon and Cornwall coasts, as well as the northern parts of Dartmoor, the location has something for everyone, whatever your holiday preferences. Apart from glorious countryside and beaches, there are children's activity parks, boat trips to Lundy Island, horse riding and many other activities all within easy reach.

This part of North Devon is quieter than the south coast with almost no traffic holdups and easy access to many beautiful places.

Mountain bikes are available to hire by separate arrangement so you can explore further and particularly along the Tarka Trail.
