I booked the Leisure-appartment one day before arrival. Barbara sent me a message that this appartment was no longer available, so she offered a slightly larger appartment (Outeniqua) for the same price. She answered quite fast and sent me clear directions of how to get there. She personally welcomed us, checked us in and showed us the room. The appartment itself was clean and complete with kitchen, refrigerator, bathroom, and even a small wardrobe. However everything was very outdated and poorly kept. The windows didn't close properly, so there was a constant airdraught right next to the bed. The appartment is also right besides a road and the appartment is more like a wooden cabin, so you can hear every car pass and hear everyting your neighbours say or do quite loud. The wardrobe was closed with a curtain instead of a door, from which the bar was loose. The deck that belonged with the Outeniqua-cabin was not directly connected to the cabin like a balcony, but you have to walk out the frontdoor, over the parkingarea to get there and you can sit (what it feels like) in front of the parkingarea to overlook the bay. The view is very nice though, also from the cabinwindow. The parkingarea itself is secured with a gate, but is a bit too small for all the cars when every room is occupied, so this can give some inconvenience. Paradise Heads is located near the centre of Knysna where plenty of restaurants, bars, lunchrooms and shops are. Overall I would not reccommend staying here if you're looking for a comfortable stay in Knysna. It is more suitable if you're on a budget and looking for a place to spend the night near the citycentre.

Place was nice however we could hear everything from the room next door. We also felt like we were a bit rushed through the checkout and were unclear about several things. Nevertheless the place was nice, clean and well located.

Response from Barbara:
They arrived very late. I had tried to help them for about an hour to get here as their GPS sent them somewhere else. I kept asking where they were but didn't get an answer. I sent directions to them and they still went past us. I eventually stood on the street so they could see us. We have a lot of signage and signs directing them to the Guest House from the main road. Regarding the check in, I did the normal check-in,gave them maps etc and directions to the restaurants. Because they were so late I told them to go straight to the restaurant otherwise they could have had a problem getting a meal.

I am an ex Professional Ice Skater. I love shows preferably musicals. Have traveled all over the world as a show skater with Holiday on Ice. Have produced and choreographed my own shows for TV in South Africa. Worked at Sun City running the PRO's for the Gaming department. I was involved in the opening of the Lost City, Miss World etc. Owned and ran the Baobab Tea Garden & Pub in Midrand, Johannesburg. Now semi retired and running Paradise Heads Self-Catering in Knysna with my husband Eddie also an ex show skater.
We have two resident cats both were strays. Fluffy moved in and then moved Stray in without us knowing. They are joined at the hip. Both are pensioners. Fluffy is very popular with the guests as he is part Maine Coon and very laid back, the opposite to stray who is a feral cat and very timid.
