Located on the Wild Atlantic Way near Downpatrick Head and with great sea views, Broadhaven Cottage is a special place to escape to! Located 3km from Ballycastle Village in County Mayo the scenery & solstice here is unrivaled in the West. Coast walks, beaches, fauna & flora, fishing, farms, hill & mountain walks, Ceide Fields, monastic sites, diving, golf, the odd pub, & even beach horse racing are just some of the attractions in this beautiful part of Ireland. Welcome and sit by the fireside!

The space
Broadhaven Cottage is a wonderful isolated escape! and in a time of Covid-19 extra attendtion is being given to our 5 Star rated cleanliness. The cottage was built of stone in the 1920's , a typical cosy 2 bedroom farmers cottage. It’s near the end of a cul-de-sac 3km outside Ballycastle in County Mayo. The cottage is 70m2 , warm , comfortable with a wonderful large stone fireplace in the kitchen. The house has an entrance area leading to the kitchen/dining room. There are 2 bedrooms and a bathroom with shower and separate bath. There is also a living room with another fireplace and a sofa bed that connects to the patio outside through double glass doors. The cottage is well equipped and has lots of items needed for a stay. There is a large garden with a lawn, a meadow, and lots of mature fruit trees and more. This is a great base to explore and enjoy the outdoors as that’s what it is all about in the countryside of Mayo and along the Wild Atlantic Way!

Where you’ll be

Ballycastle , County Mayo, Ireland

This is a quiet part of Ireland with spectacular coastal and inland scenery which is what drew me to the area; memories of childhood holidays in the West of Ireland. And the cottage is located in the heart of the countryside but as its on a hill it has great views looking west over the Atlantic , Ceide Fields and the Stags of Broadhaven in the distance, and inland down Ballinglen Valley towards freestanding Nephin Mountain. The sunsets can be spectacular from here. And the stars on a clear night? I have never seen the Milky Way so bright and clear!
Ballycastle is the nearest village and has a few pubs and shops , Killala nearby with its 1000 year old Round Tower (early skyscrapers!) has more in the way of shops and you can go fishing from here on local boats, ask in the village and at the pier. Beyond that the options on the Wild Atlantic Way and inland are endless. Please refer to the photos and the Cottage Guide.
