Stay in a traditional Maasai 'boma' (hut) on the border of the Amboseli national park with a Maasai tribe. Learn how to spot wildlife in the bush, cook Maasai food, make Maasai jewelry and milk a cow!
The boma is very very basic; intrepid adventurers only need apply. There is one long drop toilet, and no shower. The village is not inside the park, so no park fees are necessary. Jackson, your Maasai host, will meet you in Namanga to take you to your new home!

The space
You will sleep in a Maasai 'boma' (hut) which is made of mud. The hut is only one room, with a bed made of a cow skin, and a fire pit. It is VERY basic! Staying in Enkiito is about an authentic experience, not luxury.

Guest access
You will have a boma to sleep in, and be able to roam the village and surrounding wilderness.

Other things to note
When Jackson meets you in Kimana or Namaga town, he will take you to buy the food and water you will need for your trip. You will bring this with you to the village. The community are not well off, and will not provide you with food. If you plan to drink the water in the village, it is suggested to take water purification tablets, which can be bought online.

You should also take non-biological soap etc, as this is an area of unspoiled wilderness. I also suggest dry shampoo and baby wipes, as you won't want to waste water!

Location

Kenya

Enkiito village is on the north border of Amboseli national park, and animals from the park are often seen nearby. It is a long way from civilisation! There are no shops etc. You will be in the middle of unspoiled wilderness!

This area has never been visited by tourists before, as it outside the national park. This is the first time it has been opened up to visitors, so everything you see is authentic.

During your stay
A big part of your stay will be interacting with Jackson, your host - who speaks English, Swahili and Maasai - and the other members of the community. The children are always very keen to meet the visitors!

You will have the opportunity to go on bush walks to look for wildlife, see traditional Maasai dances, go goat herding, and learn to make traditional Maasai jewelry. Message as to let us know what you would like to do, and we will let Jackson know in advance of your arrival.

Robyn & Samantha are based in England and will not be present in Enkiito, although Robyn has visited many times and is happy to give advice.
