Rural house, located in the village of Alhais, one of the villages of central northern Portugal, with Manueline Foral of the sixteenth century.

Originally built in 1940, it was completely restored in 2017. The interior reflects the current standards of comfort.
It maintains the original exterior trace in the architectural context visible, above all, in the stone of its origin that gives it the identity.

Surrounded by green areas, river beaches and Paleolithic monuments, it is 4 Kms from Vila Nova de Paiva.

The space
Due to the coronavirus, we're taking extra care to disinfect all surfaces between reserves.
The "Casa d 'Avó", is a space that conveys comfort and well-being, renovated in order to maintain the original characteristics, but add modern comfort.
On the ground floor has 2 bedrooms, both with double beds (160x200), wardrobes and private bathroom (with shower). The rooms have access to floor 1 by two separate stairs, and both rooms also have direct access to the outdoor patio. Room 1 is where the washing machine space is.
On level 1, where the main entrance is made, there is a living room, kitchen and dining room.
The living room is cozy with a sofa bed, a 50"TV, and a work space with a desk and chair. The sofa bed is comfortable for 1 adult or 2 children/young people. In the living room there is also a pellet salamander for the coldest winter days.On this floor there is a bathroom on duty.
The kitchen is fully equipped with fridge, oven, microwave, hob, toaster, coffee machine and has a large dining space, top a table and 6 chairs.
From the kitchen door, there is access to the balcony that faces east/south, and has a table and two chairs that allow you to relax and enjoy the quiet of the place.
The 45cm granite walls ensure that in summer the house is very cool, not requiring air conditioning.

There is parking space on the street (free): 5-20 meters from the House.

I will greet guests in person at check-in (between 3pm and 9pm, after that time the code safe is available) and at check-out.
During the stay, I will always be reachable by phone, and sometimes I will also be reachable in person.

Guest access
Exclusive access to the entire house.

My work: Artisan working with ceramic
Business
I love hospitality and to welcome people by preparing their stay and make the most of their visit to my home town. I was born in the house that I am listing here in Alhais. I grew up in this small village and moved to Africa at the age of 16, where I stayed to study and work until I was 24. I moved back to Portugal in 1978 after the Portuguese Revolution. I currently live in Alhais with my husband. I recently moved from Espinho where I lived most of my adult life. I worked as a bank clerk for many years, and since I retired, my main occupation is as an artisan working with ceramic. I often participate in artisan fairs where I share my work and get to meet other artisans as well. I starting hosting on Airbnb in 2018.What I find most interesting in this community is sharing my home with people from other places and provide the opportunity to stay in an old renovated house in a lovely and calm place. I usually don't spend much time with my guests, but I'm always available if they need anything. I look forward to welcome you in my home!
