My wife and I stayed at this charming village getaway and we highly recommend staying at Dinah’s place – clean, affordable and welcoming! She is a wonderful, friendly host who speaks great English and will make your stay in Kampala so enjoyable. If you are looking for immersion into the local culture, yet seek the privacy of your own apartment then Dinah’s place is perfect. She and her family live in the main house on the property and they are such a pleasure. Dinah was always so helpful in arranging for and accommodating all our needs. The compound is ideally located off the main road to Gayaza in a quiet village, yet it is easily accessible to Kampala via public transport. Dinah can also help you arrange a private car for hire. The apartment has a bedroom, bathroom, living room and kitchen. It is located behind a locked gate, along with three other apartments, so we always felt incredibly safe. The bed is comfy, the shower has warm water, and the kitchen is stocked with plenty of cooking supplies. For a fee, Dinah provides laundry and traditional Ugandan meals. There is a WIFI router which you can add minutes for a fee to access Internet in the apartment. There is no air conditioning but the fans work well. Onsite there is also a generator and reserve water tank for instances when city power and water go out. The property has several animals like chickens, cats, and the occasional goat. It is very peaceful and serene. The apartment is kept very clean and the price is quite reasonable. We stayed with Dinah during the adoption of our son. She is an expert in international adoption, so if you happen to be in Kampala for that reason, she can offer invaluable in-country support and advice. We had a wonderful stay and will definitely stay again next time we are in Kampala!
