Panagiotis User Profile

Panayis Chrysovergis was born in Greece. He holds a BSc in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Athens, while, in 2002, he earned his MSc in Integrated Coastal Management (Artificials reefs in the coastal zone) from the Aegean University. He worked as a mechanical engineer for 7 years in his engineering office. Meanwhile, he pursued photography, and in 2010 after sitting exams to the Technological Institution of Athens, he succeeded in joining the Department of photography and Audio-visual Arts. In 2012, he attended the “Photojournalism and Documentary Photography” program at the International Center of Photography (ICP New York), and from September 2013, he is a resident student of the Ecole Nationale Superieure de la photographie, Arles – France. Furthermore, he attended numerous workshops along with world renowned photographers such as Patrick Zachmann (Magnum Agency), Nikos Economopoulos (Magnum Agency), Platon Rivellis (Benaki Museum), Ed Kashi (National Geographic), and Bruce Gilden (Magnum Agency).
Panayis has produced pictures of humanitarian crises focusing in social issues around the globe (India, Turkey, Syria, Jordan, France, Italy, Esthonia, Sweden, Finland, United States of America, etc.). From 2011, his photo projects began to appear in websites, newspapers and magazines worldwide ( Le journal de la photographie, National Geographique etc.). Today, he works as a freelancer photographer and collaborates with Medecins sans Frontieres (MSF) and United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR). He is a native Greek speaker, and he also fluently speaks English and French.
