This is indeed an lovely place ---- very spacious, clean and very much kids friendly. The location is just great--- Xu Jia Hui (徐家汇) is within 5 minutes walking. That speaks for itself. Archie was out of country when we arrived. So we couldn't meet him in person. In stead, he arranged one of his staff, LuLu, to meet us. Lulu was super nice and helpful, and really fun to talk to. With her help, we get to the neighborhood pretty well since day 1. The communications with Archie and his wife (through emails/phone calls) were also very pleasant. They responded to my emails quickly. During our stay, there was a water pipe leakage that caused some inconvenience in using the kitchen water. They worked on it quickly and offered generous discount. We couldn't be happier with our stay, and would highly recommend this place to anyone who travels kids and family. One minor downside: the elevator is tiny, and only runs between 7 to 9:30 in the morning, and between 3:30 and 7 in the afternoon. It closes on Sundays as well. For someone who travels with very young kids or old people, that could be a concern. My 5 year old daughter actually loved climbing the spiral stairs. So it worked out for us. If there is real need, you can ask someone to turn on the elevator with a fee.

Archie and Claire's place was absolutely fabulous. It's perfect for a family, with lots of room, toys for kids and a large spacious light filled kitchen and front room. The beautiful park opposite is just perfect for winter walks. Location wise you couldn't ask for a better part of the french concession. We had an amazing Christmas stay there, thank you both for being so helpful and letting us stay in your wonderful home.

Beautiful 1934 historic apartment in Shanghai! Archie and his family prepared everything we need (3 adults and 3 kids). My family had the apartment during Chinese New Year 2014, they enjoyed the homey feeling. Comfy beds, fluffy towels, kitchen with a view. Yes, elevator doesnt work 24 hours a day, but it's part of the charm!

We passed a very good stay in the delightful flat of Archie's family. In the centre of the charming "French Concession" district, close to the metro, and to shopping centres of high quality, this flat is a very good opportunity to make acquaintance with Shanghai and its day to day life. In this architecture of the thirties, the space is very nice and comfortable for a family, and the kitchen perfectly equipped to prepare very good dinners with the extraordinary purchases from the fish market... Certainly lift doesn't work 24h / 24h, certainly insulation isn't perfect, but it is also part of the discovery of China which advances to big step, and keeps some precious jewellery of its historical heritage: challenge is to go forward without neglecting the best of tradition... Shanghai is the best example! Three weeks of happiness and three weeks of very good memories ! It was my first experience with Airbnb, the apparent easiness of the services caused me concern that it isn't real! I can testify here that EVERYTHING was perfectly managed, and that I am already delighted to contact the services of Airbnb for a new stay! Thank you !
