Stay the night in the heart of historic old Accra! Feel the pulse of the city, just 50m from the beach. Your backyard is Ussher Fort, Usshertown, Makola Market, the Jamestown lighthouse and the fish market. We are renovating this historic building, the Tarquah House, which hosts the Jamestown Cafe, ArchiAfrika Gallery and now a new 8 room hostel!

The space
ArchiAfrika Hostel is in a historic 1914 building within the old city. We have converted this building to prove that regeneration of the city is possible through integration and not erasure. Our hostel is a truly unique space in the heart of Accra. The surrounding neighborhood is 400 years old. Discover culture and history from our doorstep.

Usshertown is part of historic Dutch Accra. Ussher Fort circa 1600s was built by various European slave and gold traders. Franklin House nearby on Brazil Lane was built by a notorious slave dealer out of British rocks carried on slave ships from Liverpool.

Ga culture and food is celebrated in the streets today with fresh fried fish, Kenkey made in giant pots and children playing street football. We offer walking tours of the neighborhood with our café staff.

I am always available with a phone call. My husband works out of the café, so he is always around too. Our café staff are available to help you round the clock. If you move in and out of the hostel at night, you must coordinate this with the night security man who also sleeps in the building.
