Beach front Holiday Home #1 - Kulau Lodge

Entire serviced apartment hosted by Leilani
5 guests2 bedrooms4 beds1 bathroom
Entire home
You’ll have the serviced apartment to yourself.
Kulau Lodge is located in Kabakada Village, 15min drive out of Rabaul along the North Coast Road and about 1hr45min from Tokua Airport.

We have 9 terraced bungalows available. They are perfect for couples needing their own space and for families or a group of friends looking for a holiday home on the beach, out of town.

Guests can enjoy snorkeling our house reef or nearby shipwreck, explore WWII tunnels or take a guided walk through the village. We also have a Restaurant & Bar onsite.

The space
Each bungalow has two-bedrooms, own bathroom, kitchen and living room areas. The bedrooms and bathroom are upstairs and living room downstairs.
You can cook for yourselves in the room or you can dine in our restaurant during your stay.
*Please note: we do not have air-conditioning or hot water at this stage.
All the rooms are kept cool by ceiling fans and you get a nice breeze through the veranda doors as we are on the beach.

Guest access
The beach is just a few metres from your doorstep so you can go for a swim or explore for shells at your leisure.

There is great snorkeling along our house reef or our shipwreck which you can get to by a short canoe ride (or we can also organize a boat).

Our beachfront faces east so we get to watch beautiful sun rise and moon rise over the water.

If you want to get out of the apartment, you can relax in our Hauswin, dine in the restaurant or chill out under the shade in any of our garden areas.

You can also venture out to the nearby village and explore some WWII tunnels or the Vunela Historical Site above the Kabakada United Church.

Other things to note
We can arrange airport transfers at a cost or refer you to small hire car businesses if you need transport during your stay.

Location

Rabaul, East New Britain Province, Papua New Guinea

We are located within Kabakada village. Our neighbours are friendly and keen to wave hello at new people.
The first missionaries landed on our shores here at Kabakada and so we have a strong United Church presence here and also at our sister village Vunairoto. Both villages have beautiful mens' choirs and I recommend a quick sneak at either church if you're here on a Sunday to listen to their beautiful voices.

Rabaul is full of culture, history and is a very scenic place to visit. Lots of WWII sites, hiking, mountain climbing, fishing, snorkelling, scuba diving, island trips, dolphins, cultural events and activities, volcano climbs and hot springs just to name a few attractions here.

Welcome to the Land of the Unexpected! My name is Lani and I will be your host, should you chose it :) I am a mixed bag islander that was born and grew up here in Rabaul plus I have spent some time in Australia for work. I love adventures, fishing, snorkelling and doing my part in taking care of the environment around me. I especially enjoy sharing my hometown with our visitors and helping them experience what Rabaul is all about. I look forward to hosting your stay some time soon!
