Our studio is located in Carmel, less than a mile from the town center. The house faces out over Hatton Canyon and affords a private rural setting yet close to Big Sur, Pebble Beach, Monterey, etc. 15 Minute walk to Carmel downtown. A hub to explore Big Sur and all the Monterey Peninsula has to offer.

The space
Our studio is located along the East canyon side of our mid-century ranch house, to which it is connected to, is totally private from our living space with sight and sound separation. It is a L-shaped studio with a vaulted beamed cathedral ceiling, recessed lighting, and distinctive hardwood flooring. The King size bed is slightly recessed into a cherry wood accent wall that Celine designed. The bedding is luxurious and includes a plush down comforter. While the central heating is controlled from our house, the fully insulated studio has an electric heater, if it gets too cool in the evenings.

The bathroom is in the retro 50’s style, yet fully renovated with custom cabinetry and a designer tile floor, restoring the original tub and shower. High speed WiFi access provided as is TV with full Xfinity X1, lots of movies. There is no stove, cooking utensils in the studio, so it's not set up for cooking. Yet we do provide a dining table and stools, large new mini-fridge, toaster, kettle, large microwave, and dishes. Perfect for the light breakfast we provide, along with fresh ground coffee from artisan local roasters and a selection of teas, or great for take in dining from the many fine restaurants or supermarkets in the area.

There is a private patio for guests with table, chairs and bench to relax in and view the canyon. We provide ample off street parking, right to the studio and have two separate entrances completely separated from the main house. We renovated the house with the privacy and comfort of our guests in mind. Please note that this is a not a huge space and the max capacity is for 2 persons.

We moved to Carmel because of the neighborhood and live in one of the most beautiful spots on the earth. Heading south, you’re immediately in Big Sur. We’re about 15 minutes to the Bixby Bridge or 45 minutes to Pfeiffer Burns State Park. Great hiking is nearby for all kinds of level of hikers. Point Lobos, the famous photographer Edward Weston’s visual inspiration is magnificent and a 10 minute drive away. 17 Mile drive is also about 10 minutes from us. Carmel town, a quaint very cool town with a good share of art galleries and restaurants, is a 15 minute walk away, or about 20 minutes to walk to the beautiful Carmel beach. Wine tasting and vineyards in abundance nearby. Supermarkets are 5 minutes away. Easy access to lovely Pacific Grove or Monterey, or Seaside and Marina for great affordable eats and basic shopping.

We welcome you to our home. After living in Asia for 20 some years, we moved to Carmel in 2014 as we found it one of the most beautiful places on earth. Having enjoyed the Airbnb experience as we searched for our new home in California, we purchased this home with developing an Airbnb in mind. David is in the IT business, a semi-pro musician, and has become a pretty OK carpenter’s helper. Celine is an acrylics, oil painter. Her works adorn the studio you’ll be staying in.

We live just next door. In most cases, we’ll be there to greet you and are happy to offer advice on local attractions and businesses. We’ d be very happy to meet and talk but will give you all the space and privacy you desire. You can text or call if any questions or issues come up or if you need to borrow some ketchup or whatever you need.
Just to note, your costs fully include the Transient Occupancy Tax, which we will be remitting to the County to cover tax for both our fees and Airbnb Fees, as required by law. This ensures that your stay at Airbnb contributes to the infrastructure and tourist infrastructure within Monterey County.
