This was my first airbnb experience and I admit I was a bit nervous but ROCK HOUSE ROCKED!!!! It exceeded my expectations. Both the SUPERHOSTS and the house & Hot Tub were great. The sheets were super soft and comfortable & there were plenty of clean towels available. The kitchen was well stocked with equipment. I was not sure if there would be wifi in such a remote location but there was & it worked great!!!

I had a wonderful weekend at the Rock House with my family and our dogs. A great base for exploring the national park, wildlife spotting and for beautiful evenings spent star-gazing. Nick alerted us to watch the International Space Station fly over in the incredibly clear night sky, which was such a memorable experience. Nick also kindly bought float toys for our toddler to use in the beautiful dip pool. In high heat some thirsty endangered honey bees come to drink from the pool in one small spot, but aren't in the least threatened by you, especially once you settle in the water. As with all desert trips, it's a privilege to be surrounded by the wildlife, we were given great advice and were thrilled to see a scorpion, quail, jack rabbits, road runners, and to hear the coyotes. Thanks so much for having us.

Response from Rebecca:
So glad you enjoyed the wild life and understood about the poor honey bees :-) I wish we knew where their hive is so we could collect some fresh honey!

The Rock House was an inviting abode away from home. All the amenities one could ask for, along with a host that is both very accessible and helpful and respectful of privacy. Would recommend anyone to stay here. 5 stars.

Welcome! It's me, Rebecca B and I LOVE the desert and the tropics. Go figure.

We have 2 homes available for rent on AirBnB. Our year-round rental is RockHouse Retreat and has become quite the popular desert pad. Here's a little history. So, I found this stunning "compound" for sale near Joshua Tree at the end of 2009 and was able to use my amazing powers of persuasion to convince my mother and brother to purchase it sight unseen and leave New York to relocate to the wonderland of the high desert.

MAYBE my powers of persuasion had NOTHING AT ALL to do with it. My mother has always been obsessed with the desert and was truly the one who nurtured my connection and passion for this land. You see, she's a rock hound and has a crazy cool connection and fascination with the history of the West. My brother can't get enough of the endless off-roading and hiking adventures.

Originially RockHouse was intended as a desert escape for the family, but at the very end of 2011 we decided to share the joys of the property and land and made it available through AirBnB. And so glad we did!!! We've met some really cool folks (and their pets!) who share a love for adventure and the outdoors.

So I present to you my mother and brother, Cheryl and Nick, who are now the fantastically chill hosts for your stay at RockHouse. They live in a completely separate home on the same 2.5+ acre property and keep out of your hair, unless you need them.

Our other AirBnB rental in San Diego, is our primary residence and is only available for one month of the summer and one week after Christmas. It's 5 blocks to the beach in the groovy and laid back community of Point Loma / Ocean Beach. Super central and close to all the great attractions San Diego has to offer.

A little about me. I live in San Diego, but spend A LOT of time up at RockHouse to decompress, recharge and connect with my little family and friends. I am a social entrepreneur, digital creator, student of life, adventurous, kind 'n quirky mama, wife & friend. Traveling renews and energizes me. A BIG fan of the desert (surprise!) and the tropics - go figure. We spend a month every year on the north shore of hit me up if you have any recommendations, connections, etc.

I'm a lover of Fair Trade and FIRST Robotics. Meditation, yoga and running nurtures my body and soul and calms the monkeys in my mind. Exploring and learning about photography is my guilty pleasure.
