Luxurious Yurt the heart of the South Downs National Park - enjoy peace, comfort and freedom amidst the breathtaking beauty of the "green and pleasant land" of unspoilt Sussex countryside.

The space

Hidden in a meadow known as Night Pastures, Chestnut Yurt is hand crafted using hardwood that once grew just ½ a mile away. Natural light from an oak stable door and three picture windows complete with blinds flood the space and, if you want to get even closer to nature, the stable doors can easily be opened to let fresh air and the sounds of the countryside stream in. A luxurious double bed, and two optional single beds complete with fresh linen and chest of drawers makes your rural retreat a home from home. On those rare occasions when the sun doesn't shine, the natural insulation of wood floor, wool rugs and the warmth of a wood burning stove will keep you blissfully comfortable.

Outside, the Yurt deck has a fully-equipped camp kitchen(gas stove [with grill], cups, plates, cutlery, utensils, pots, frying pans, cafetiere etc.), barbecue, washstand and fresh water tap, plus table and chairs - the perfect setting for glorious, memorable alfresco meals and moonlit dinners. Nearby, your safe and snug ‘en-suite’ bathroom hut, complete with flushing loo, Victorian sink, towels and a large walk in hot shower means you can still enjoy the comforts of home whilst out in the field!

** Please note that we now have 4 Yurt camps on our farm. If Beech Yurt is not available at the times you want, please also try one of our other camps by copying and pasting the links below into your browser address bar.

Interaction with guests

Once you have checked in, you will be left undisturbed to be at one with nature… that is of course unless you need help with anything in which case someone is always on hand!

Other things to note

Chestnut Yurt is located on a working family farm so please respect the Country Code at all times. There is also a large pond nearby the yurt that you would need to be aware of if travelling with small children.

There are many wonderful things the countryside has to offer and when you're tired at the end of a hard day's play we have plenty of board games, maps and books to while away the hours.

We can also provide, a Travel cot free of charge (one available please book in advance), an extra bundle of wood cut to size for your wood burning stove at £10.

If you fancy a break from cooking, a dinner "Room Service" is available on request by contacting the Rising Sun Milland at least 24 hours in advance.

If you're arriving by train, it's advisable to get your shopping done in advance, as nearest shop to the farm is 10 min drive.

Hugely enjoyable stay in this secluded location. The yurt is beautifully made and when the log burner is going it is very cosy. The double bed is comfortable and the washing facilities definitely not like camping (hot shower). Equipped with all you would need. Good attention to detail and Rachel was a delightful and helpful host. She really cared that we enjoyed ourselves. Thoroughly recommended.

Fantastic hospitality by Bozhanka and her family. An added bonus was the unexpected tractor ride for the kids to get the luggage to the yurt. The setting of the yurts is outstanding and fabulous for tranquility in the middle of nowhere. Nature is all around you, which also includes a few creepy crawlies, as to be expected. I highly recommend the walk to The Duke of Cumberland Arms, which served fantastic lunch.

Beautiful location, really helpful owner, stunning and very well equipped yurt. We spent 2 nights here and enjoyed it so much - even the rain didn't dampen our spirits!

Fantastic stay at Chestnut Yurt. Rach was really welcoming and made sure we were stocked up with ice blocks in the hot weather for our food. The yurt and bathroom were clean and well set up and it was great to sit inside with the wood burning stove at night or out in the sun with the Bbq and parasol in the day. We also visited a nearby pub for lunch so a few great walks nearby. Recommend :)
