The space
The house is rightfully part of the historic city centre in Amsterdam, being over a 100 years old and built in iconic Amsterdam style. On the inside, the house has been completely renovated in 2018.

The house counts four floors accessible by stairs. The room you will stay in resides on the first floor with a private entrance. You will get your own key to your separate suite, so you’re not staying in someone's else’s private home space. You will have a private bathroom, towels, and coffee & tea amenities.

This private room is new, light, neat and clean, and has been tastefully decorated with selected treasures from the city’s antique market.

- The historic building consists of four floors.
- The building has a shared staircase. You will find your private suite and bathroom on the first floor.

Guest access
Being located in the heart of the city centre, most destinations will be less than 20 minutes walking distance from your accommodation. Why not have a walk amongst the old buildings, the canals, and take in the sights?

The way we Amsterdam-natives prefer to get around the city is by bicycle. Cycling is a cheap way to get around that does not harm the environment and you get to check off you exercise box for the day: scoring three big points with Dutchies. Also, the city is built quite compact (and flat!) so you can reach everything quite easily and effortlessly. If you’re considering to rent a bicycle to move around town, Green Budget Bikes and Rent-A-Bike are both renting out bikes within 250 metres from the house.

The most beautiful way to get around the city is by taking a canal cruise or to rent your personal little boat. You will see the city from the waters of the historic canals: a unique perspective on this beautiful city! This is historically how all goods and products used to be transported here.

Getting around by tram is a great alternative. There are many connecting tram lines throughout the city, and trams run so frequent you won’t have worry about missing your connection until close to midnight. Bring cash to buy tickets in any tram. Trams do not ride during the night but there are some night busses that will still bring you where you need to be.

Streets around the house are open for parking if you can find a free space, but is very expensive (at the moment €7,50 per hour). However, you can find deals in parking garages around town that are much cheaper, free parking is possible if you are willing to park your car at the outskirts of town and come to the house by public transport.

Neighbourhood highlights

The moment you step out of the house, you’re standing in the heart of the historic city centre of Amsterdam. In this area you can find most of the city’s famous attractions and sights, such as the Dam Palace, museums, the flower market, 9 Little Streets (9 Straatjes), the red light district, nightlife and still so much more to discover. The city centre is the most historic part of Amsterdam, so you will be surrounded by the famous Amsterdam canals and the typical houses lined along them. The iconic architecture, decorative lights and bridges make the city centre the most romantic part of the city.

If you walk to one end of the 'Slijkstraat' (street), you will find the 'Nieuwmarkt': one of the most cosy (‘gezellige’) and well-known squares of the city, surrounded by restaurants, bars and terraces, but also filled with market stalls in the daytime. Go fine dining in the monumental building 'De Waag', walk further onto the 'Zeedijk' street to find a tiny Chinatown with plenty of Asian food, or walk 10 minutes more west to find the city’s best cocktails in Hiding in Plain Sight.

If you walk a few minutes from the Slijkstraat, you enter the red light district: 'De Wallen'. The famous red light district of Amsterdam is the backbone of the city’s nightlife. These streets and canals form a concentration of restaurants, bars, coffeeshops, and adult entertainment. Guaranteed to have a memorable night out.
