The apartment is fantastic and I extended my stay. Appearance was as described, & it is very well furnished with quality items. From my review of Airbnb listings, Yves appears to own or manage around six apartments in this 2-building block ('Chic Condominium' behind Wat Karon) & I suspect this is the best of the six. It is located at the front of the main building, on the first floor, with easy proximity to the main entrance, indoor gym & outdoor pool. Prior to booking I read a lot of reviews about the apartment and the host. I found three recurring themes from reviews which I think it is helpful for me to add to post my experience (& none of this has been checked or reviewed by the host). First, I find some criticism that Yves is not a typical 'host' but rather is fronting a property business. I find this 'criticism' surprising because any 2min of research before booking would highlight that Yves has >110 Phuket properties openly listed on Airbnb plus they can easily be found via (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) on another distribution channel 'rentavillaphuket_dot_com'. In fact this gave me more confidence to book given that the apartments are professionally managed, plus the business approach enables cheaper pricing than is typical for Phuket properties. Second there is some criticism of the one-way transfer offered to/from the airport (1,200THB at time of writing). For info, the fixed taxi rate to Karon is 1,000THB. Personally I see nothing wrong with a private operator offering a premium service (own driver, comfort, safer driving in my experience) at a premium rate which is voluntary to accept, plus in my case the driver Trep also checked me into the apartment which added efficiency. I think it is good for the host to offer the service - you can decline to accept it with due courtesy if you wish, the apartment is not difficult to locate, you can print off a (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) map. Third, there is criticism of unanswered communication with the host during the stay. I did not have need for intervention from the host during my stay. However two messages sent (one via SMS to the driver regarding wifi code, one sent via my Airbnb 2nd stay request for new towels & sheets) were neither acknowledged nor responded to. I had anticipated this due to being aware in advance of the reviews so was not upset about it. However I think that it is a shame that intra-stay communication is not top notch given everything else about my stay was (namely location, price, decor, cleanliness, security, wifi, lack of any insects etc, spaciousness, facilities, efficiency of checkin & out, staff friendliness & language skills). I would readily stay at any of Yves' properties when visiting Phuket again & recommend them to others.
