Description

The space

Take a walk through Durham's history, from train stop to mill town, to tobacco town, to University place, from foodie USA to performance mecca. We have film festivals, forests of walking trails, outdoor eateries, Durham Bulls baseball, bands on rooftops, and cathedral choirs. Something for everyone in Durham. Don't miss the main attraction, the life size bull in the heart of the city.

Guest access

Enjoy our old-fashioned front porch with a perfect swing-for-two and a pair of those big comfy rocking chairs. The living room and dining room with period antiques take you back in time as you cozy up with a favorite book.

Interaction with guests

We provide local lore and give you maps to downtown.

The neighbourhood

We are located in Old North Durham, one of the original suburbs to downtown in the early 1900s. The trolley ran along Mangum Street and old photos show that our house had chickens in the backyard.

Getting around

Free on-street parking is available. We are also on the city bus line. For travelers to Duke University, we are a 15 minute walk to East Campus where there is a free East-West campus bus.

House Rules

We enjoy well-mannered people who appreciate our house and lifestyle.

My daughter and I enjoyed our stay here. The home is beautifully decorated in a style that compliments the time period in which it was built. The bathroom was clean and spacious. The house is very conveniently located to Duke and the downtown area, and Robin and her husband were very gracious hosts. We would definitely stay here again.

We had a wonderful stay at Robin and David's house. It's a lovely, warm, tastefully-decorated home, and they are excellent hosts. They were completely easygoing about our midnight arrival (we missed our earlier flight). As a bonus, Robin was able to spend time showing my girlfriend some of the sights of Durham. We definitely would come back.

I booked the room at Robin's house for my father during graduation weekend, so I did not meet Robin and her husband myself. However, my father said that they were welcoming, friendly hosts, and he had a nice stay. In communications with Robin leading up to the visit, she was helpful and clearly concerned about accommodating her guests and their needs.

We had a great stay at Robin's Bungalow. She is a thoughtful hostess looking after our needs and also offered suggestions of places to visit during an unexpected open day. The listing was accurate, the bed comfortable, bird songs lovely, porch a pleasant spot to work and to dream. We experienced as much privacy as desired yet a conversation with Robin was always delightful. The neighborhood was great - good for walking; lots of trees - and dining choices including Cocoa Cinnamon, were just a 15 minute walk.
