Description

The space

Welcome to Ann Arbor!

The Old West Side is the historic district of Ann Arbor. With lots of families and grad students milling about, its very charming, comfortable, and quiet. Across the street from the front porch is West (email hidden) space for jogging or picnicking. The park makes you feel like you are far out of town even though Main Street is one block away. The Farmer's Market and several local restaurants and breweries, as well as yoga studios, shops, and cafes are just a walk away. The U of M Central Campus is a 10 minute bike ride, or 20 minute walk, as is the U of M Hospital---a perfect location for visiting scholars, students, and families.

If you have more than two people in your reservation, please see "Spacious room in downtown historic home"

Guest access

There are two downstairs bedrooms, one off the dining room and one off the kitchen, each with a double bed. The house is very open, simple, and comfortable. Guests will have access to on site parking, washer and dryer, fully furnished kitchen, living room, and dining area, a big back yard with a table and a grill, a front porch with a swing and Air Conditioning (a rare historic home luxury!).

Interaction with guests

My roommate and I are graduate students at U of M. I live upstairs and my roommate lives in one of the rooms downstairs. We will share common space, a bathroom, and the kitchen during your stay. The guest bathroom will be used by you, and perhaps other AirBnB guests, if their stay overlaps with yours (See "Spacious room in downtown historic home" for more on other listings in this home).

In the summertime I tend to be outdoors more than in so I'll be lucky if I see you! I have lived in Ann Arbor for several years and would be happy to guide you to it's sweetest and most important attractions.

The neighbourhood

The Old West Side is the historic district of Ann Arbor. With lots of families and grad students milling about, its very charming, comfortable, and quiet. Across the street from the front porch is West (email hidden) space for jogging or picnicking. The farmer's market and several local foodie restaurants and breweries are just a walk away, and the Huron River is an easy after-dinner spot to find. The U of M Central Campus is a 10 minute bike ride, or 20 minute walk, a perfect location for visiting scholars and students.

Getting around

Transportation in Ann Arbor is easy. Though the house is tucked into a quiet neighborhood, Main Street is visible through the back yard and U of M's campus is only a few blocks beyond that. Walking almost everywhere is feasible. Bus lines are easy to access, as is the the train station and highway.

Other things to note

Arrival: When you book, please indicate to me whether you are comfortable entering the home by picking the key up from the mail box on the front porch, or if you prefer I am present to greet you. This will help me plan around the comfort of your arrival.

Departure: The door locks behind you, so when you are ready to pack up, please leave the key in the room and send me a message to confirm that you are out the door.
