A luxurious lodge in and idyllic setting at the home of The Cotswold Reindeer Herd, near Cirencester.
Our lodge is open to guests in a private position overlooking our Christmas trees, and right next to the reindeer paddocks; with its own parking and garden.
The lodge comes complete with log burner, bathroom and large shower, and a well equipped kitchenette, and a unique welcome pack.
All linen & crockery is provided.
A lovely country pub is just a 2 minutes walk, and serves food.

The space
Our luxurious lodge is privately located and right next to our reindeer grazing paddocks, as well as our Christmas tree plantations; creating a unique visitor experience.
We are The Cotswold Reindeer Herd, one of the largest reindeer herds in the UK. It doesn't get any more exclusive than that.

The Lodge is perfect accommodation for a romantic break for a couple, or 2+2 family, and features a luxurious king size 4 poster bed and a double sofa bed in the same room. There is room for a cot if you wish to bring one.
The lodge is fully insulated and double glazed for year-round cosiness, with electric heating, and a wood burning stove with a starter pack of logs provided. Use of a cot will preclude the use of the log burner, for safety reasons, but the electrical heaters will easily suffice.
There is a fully equipped bathroom with a large shower, and heated towel rail.
The well-appointed kitchenette has a fridge, combination microwave, toaster and kettle.
Bi-fold doors open up the living area onto the decking, providing a substantial area to relax and enjoy the view over our tree plantations, or to watch the reindeer play.
All essential crockery and cutlery is provided.
Mains electricity, linen, towels and tableware are provided.
Our unique welcome pack contains complimentary tea, coffee, milk and a bottle of wine, as well as two free Cotswold Reindeer Herd mugs and two postcards. Our guests are also offered a free tour of our reindeer herd whilst they are with us.
There is private parking for 1 car alongside the lodge, or further parking 75 meters away.
There is a 13A outside socket, which can be used to charge electric cars via a “granny connection” (not supplied).
2-night minimum stay is required.
We do ask our guests to make use of the mattress protector provided for our sofa bed at all times.

The Lodge is available to guests year-round. From 23rd. November - 30th December we open our gates to the public for our Christmas Event. During this period the lodge will not be as private as during the rest of the year because of the general public being in relatively close proximity during opening hours.

As this is a working smallholding staff may pass the lodge occasionally but will be mindful of not disturbing the guests.
No pets allowed, due to reindeer on site.
It is a non-smoking or vaping site. Failure to observe this rule will result in the levy of an additional cleaning charge if evidence is found, and guests will be asked to leave if they are seen smoking or vaping.
For security our site has cctv. To see our full terms, conditions and privacy policies, please visit our website at The Cotswold Reindeer Herd .

Guest access
Guests can enjoy the peace and tranquility of our rural site. Sit on the deck, or walk through our Christmas tree plantations, and watch the reindeer grazing only a few yards away, on fine days.

All our guests are offered a free tour of our reindeer herd as part of their stay. This allows our lodge guests to feed the reindeer, learn about them, and interact with them as a unique experience, in the presence of a handler.
If our lodge guests wish to bring extra friends or guests to join in on the tour, this can be done by going to our AirBnB Experience page (Meet Real Reindeer), and booking them in there. Alternatively we can take payment per person for extra visitors on the day.

If our paying guests wish to have other people join them on our site for any period during their stay this must be requested in advance, and there may likely be an additional charge.

There is a privately fenced garden to enjoy behind the lodge.

4G signal is available in the lodge and surrounding it.

Mains electricity, with phone charger points, private parking and a 13A socket is available to charge electric cars, if guests provide a "granny connector".

All the activities available at The Cotswold Water park are just a few minutes drive away. As are the source of the Thames, and Lechlade, the highest navigable part of the Thames.

Bibury Trout farm is local, along with Arlington Row.
Also Fairford, home of RIAT, The Royal International Air Tattoo, and Cheltenham Races / Cheltenham Festival.

Good access to Cirencester, Cheltenham, Gloucester and Swindon and the M4.

Other things to note
All our lodge guests are invited to a private tour of our reindeer herd, by arrangement, during their stay.
A starter pack of logs for the stove is provided, more can be purchased from the owners, if required.
The site has CCTV in various areas.

Visitors between 23 November - 5 January Please note:
Our site will be open to the public. During this time the guest experience will be slightly different, in that:
1. During our opening hours there will be the general public moving around the site, and whilst not being allowed into the immediate vicinity of the lodge, they will be visible. During our closed hours there will be more movement of our staff about the premises, but this will be kept as discrete as possible.
2. Whilst provisions will be made to allow guests vehicles right beside the lodge to load/unload during arrival and departure, for the rest of the time guests vehicles must be parked in our main car park, approximately 30 metres away. This is for site safety reasons.
3. Whilst not being able to have a private tour of our reindeer herd during this period, our guests will be allowed free access during opening times to our public areas, and will be allowed to join groups visiting our reindeer at any time, for as long as they like.
Everything else about our guests experience will remain the same during this period.

The Cotswold Reindeer Herd is one of the largest permanent reindeer herds in the UK. Your stay at our lodge can include a private tour of our reindeer herd, by arrangement, if you wish. We think this is utterly unique, and we know of nowhere else where you can have this experience.
Primarily a rural agricultural area, with the bustle of Cirencester, just a few minutes away by car.
The Cotswolds rolling countryside became wealthy due to the wool from its many sheep, and the rich cereal crops rotated to harvest the fertility which the sheep imbued into the Cotswold Brash soils overlying the yellow Oolitic limestone rock so characteristic of most buildings in the region.
In recent decades the alluvial gravels and sands of the post glacial Thames have been extracted for the construction industry, leaving us with The beautiful Cotswold Water Park. More water than land, this is home to many secluded walks, cafes, beaches and water sports, as well as being a haven for wildlife.
The area is now home to many country homes and estates, now open to the public.
Lechlade, 9 miles away is the highest navigable point on the Thames, and provided a route to London to move the harvests and make possible the boost to the area's prosperity.
Cirencester boasts a beautiful "Wool Cathedral", and lots of Roman heritage, being the regional capital during Roman times.
Many other local Cotswold villages have "wool churches", and are home to attractions like The Bibury Trout Farm, and also Arlington Row (oldest street in England).
Cheltenham, home of the Cheltenham Races and Cheltenham Festival is just 25 miles away by car, and only a few minutes by helicopter. (And we have plenty of room to land one!).
Kemble airfield is 8 miles away, and is able to land all fixed wing aircraft and hires them and helicopters too.
The source of the Thames or Isis is less than 8 miles away, just outside Kemble.
Fairford, home of The Royal International Air Tattoo is under 6 miles away.
Swindon and Gloucester are both less than 25 miles, Bath (home of the Roman Baths and Spas) and Bristol are 40 - 60 minutes by car.
Kemble is home to the busy rail route to London (Paddington 85 minutes), Heathrow (123 minutes).

Andrew and Clare are the owners of The Cotswold Reindeer Herd, which is one of the largest reindeer herds in the UK. Coming from a farming background, we have an extensive knowledge of animal care and the environment. We bought our first reindeer over 14 years ago and fell in love with these wonderful animals. We converted a reindeer barn into our lodge so that guests can stay in our lovely location to relax and enjoy our reindeer with us. The welfare of our animals is our top priority. Visiting humans should expect to have their spirits lifted.
