For over a decade we have received guests, many for two to four weeks, in our traditional Provençal house, renovated with pool added. Spectacular views, quiet & concealed from summer tourists. Four miles from the house in "A Year in Provence".
The house has plenty of space to be together or to spread out for individual pass-times. Two of the six bedrooms are in the wing, emphasizing space and options. Furthermore, the living room, library, study, two terraces by the house, and another by the pool allow lots of room. The setting is peaceful and protected and the hamlet feels like the Provence we knew before "A Year in Provence" attracted all the attention. So even in high season, while close and accessible, the property is a getaway. It is frequently praised for "feeling classically Provençale." The house looks over orchards, vineyards and fields. The pool sits beyond and below so it has privacy and doesn't interfere with activities around the house.
The lovely hill towns of Gordes, Menerbes, Lacoste, Roussillon, Bonnieux and Oppède are within fifteen minutes. Four terrific markets are located nearby. Arles, the Pont du Gard, St. Remy, Avignon and Aix-en-Provence are all between 30 and 55 minutes away. Walks and hikes and bicycle rides extend directly from the house.
Interaction with guests
Sarah lives in the hamlet. Usually she greets guests with a glass of wine and a quick start guide to the house and the region. During fall and spring she runs "A Week in Provence," a cultural and cooking program, from the house; she is a great source of knowledge, recommendations and tips on the valley and the region.
