Piazza degli Aragonesi is located between the Piazza delle Stigmate and the streets of S. Gregorio and S. Agostino.

The name, before 1865, indicated a courtyard here present that, being inhabited by people of low social extraction, was famous for the great fights that very often took place there, so much so as to give the "curtigghiu of Raunisi" a popular and proverbial meaning very precise, or place of quarrels and quarrels.
This courtyard, with the crumbling ward that gravitated around it, was demolished in 1865 to obtain a square, in the center of which the municipal administration built a large covered market.
